Magic Math Squares, Prime Numbers, and Mystery

Above is the picture of a twenty-three square magic math puzzle that I solved. From scratch. By hand. A brief explanation of the high-lighted colors:
  • GREEN: merely indicates the outer perimeter of the square. Whether or not the numbers highlighted fall into any mathematically-significant pattern I have no way of knowing yet.

  • MAGENTA: hope these are obvious...

  • TURQUOISE: visually indicate the diagonal, plus a mathematical progression

  • YELLOW: high-lighted numbers are prime numbers. At the moment, it is prime numbers that interest me most. I have no "answers" at present, but only questions:

The prime numbers "seem" to fall into a random pattern. Is this correct? What sort of a pattern? And does it have anything to do with fractals?
  • So far, I have solved about twenty or so magic math puzzles. In each one of them, I have high-lighted the prime numbers, and each time I am left with the questions above.
It would be a true pleasure to be contacted by someone who knows his or her math, fractals, etc. As of yet, I have little formal training in mathematics, but would love to learn more.

    Update: April 10th,2009:
I was talking with my pal/friend Bjorn Tore Kieding about magic math squares and asked him if it was possible to come up with a program for them. We discussed the squares a bit and then he went home to work on the programming for them.
It seemed as if just a few hours had passed, when he sent me the link to a page, and lo and behold! There they were- all the odd-numbered magic math squares up to 201.

The odd-numbered puzzles were followed shortly afterward by the first even-numbered magic math squares, and still more after that. It's my genuine pleasure to now link to his page :-)
