Magic Math Squares, Prime Numbers, and Mystery |
Above is the picture of a twenty-three square magic math puzzle that I solved. From scratch. By hand. A brief explanation of the high-lighted colors:
The prime numbers "seem" to fall into a random pattern. Is this correct? What sort of a pattern? And does it have anything to do with fractals? |
So far, I have solved about twenty or so magic math puzzles. In each one of them, I have high-lighted the prime numbers, and each time I am left with the questions above. It would be a true pleasure to be contacted by someone who knows his or her math, fractals, etc. As of yet, I have little formal training in mathematics, but would love to learn more. Update: April 10th,2009: I was talking with my pal/friend Bjorn Tore Kieding about magic math squares and asked him if it was possible to come up with a program for them. We discussed the squares a bit and then he went home to work on the programming for them. It seemed as if just a few hours had passed, when he sent me the link to a page, and lo and behold! There they were- all the odd-numbered magic math squares up to 201. Magic Math Squares The odd-numbered puzzles were followed shortly afterward by the first even-numbered magic math squares, and still more after that. It's my genuine pleasure to now link to his page :-) Update- February 3,2005:
