Words of Inspiration

From: "A Return to Love" by Marianne Williamson. "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am i to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we're liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. - Marianne Williamson, from A Return to Love, p. 165
Marianne Williamson
"Consciousness is not intelligence. Many intelligent people are not very conscious. Consciousness is your level of awareness -- how "awake" or "mindful" you are, especially of the contribution you make to creating your personal reality. The development of human consciousness leads inevitably to a refinement of values and the natural growth of our inherent spiritual nature.
And yet here we often find ourselves blocked by a belief that religion has cornered the market on spirituality. Further, because religion and theology are, to many of us, far too rigid and dogmatic to answer the difficult questions we have about ourselves and our relationship to the Cosmos, we often slow or even cease our search for meaning.
Esoteric philosophy will always be greatly indebted to the great ancient and medieval thinkers, but the time has come for us to create new, updated presentations of the True Reality that lies beyond or behind the physical universe of appearance. Quantum physics, string theory, holography, fractals, Einstein's theories of Relativity, etc. are part of this new thought-form presentation, as is the new transpersonal and mystically oriented psychology. The mystics were right about the material universe being, essentially, "frozen light," or spirit-in-forms that only appear to be physically dense. And the new sciences can now prove that what we call Reality is merely a reflection of consciousness. In other words, we can best change the world, by changing our minds about ourselves and the world in which we live.
There is a significant and burgeoning segment of the scientific community that is looking at the development of human consciousness. One of the most distinguished is Dr. Charles T. Tart, Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the University of California at Davis. He is a prolific author (see Amazon.com) and an expert in the study of human consciousness, particularly altered states of consciousness, whether drug induced or seemingly spontaneous experiences of transcendence. Dr. Tart has set up a new website where "scientists" may discuss openly their transcendental experiences. I think you will enjoy it. The URL is:

A Prayer of Saint Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace
That where there is hatred I may bring love,
That where there is wrong I may bring the spirit of forgiveness,
That where there is discord I may bring harmony,
That where there is error I may bring truth,
That where there is doubt I may bring faith.
That where there is despair I may bring hope,
That where there is sadness I may bring joy.
That where there are shadows I may bring Thy Light.
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort - than to be comforted;
To understand - than to be understood;
To love - than to be loved;
For it is by giving - that one receives;
It is by self-forgetting that one finds;
It is by forgiving - that one is forgiven;
It is by dying - that one awakens to eternal life.
