The Jeweler
SPACE Entering the small stone building, you are greeted in an antechamber by two armed guards who look you
over carefully before allowing you to proceed through a heavy-doored entrance. Once inside, the smell of tea permeates your nostrils. An older man, probably in his late 50s and dressed in foppish clothing, greets you by introducing himself as Withersby. Decked out in gold, the man wears entirely too much jewelry about the hands, wrists, and neck. He smiles at you with brown-stained teeth.
SPACE "Welcome, my friends," he begins. His accent is thick and heavy, though unplaceable. He holds his 'L's' and rolls his 'R's.' "What is it I can do you for?"
SPACE Alliandra shows him her gems and informs him that Meggana told her that he would give them an honest price.
SPACE "Oh, yes," he nods, widening his smile. "Best price for you, my friend!"
SPACE After a bit of bartering with the man, he agrees to pay you 106 gold coins for all eight gems. Grant nods as if to confirm the fairness of Withersby's price.
The odd man takes a handful of tobacco from a jar on the tabletop as he counts out your price from an iron chest on the floor in the corner. He hands the coins to you in a small cloth sack. He replaces the key into his shirt pocket after relocking the chest and then offers you both some of the tobacco.
SPACE Alliandra declines, thanking the man for the deal. Grant grabs a handful and throws it all in his mouth. After a moment of initial chewing, he replies, "Aye, we thank ye (swallow) for everything."
SPACE With that, you exit the gem-cutter's.
