The Market II

SPACE Osward shows the group all he has to offer. "What do you think of these?" he asks, showing the group a selection of blades he is obviously proud of.
SPACE Grant picks up several, tossing them back onto the workbench. "Crap," he says.
SPACE "Crap?!" the bladesmith demands. "What do you mean?"
SPACE "If it isn't dwarven," Grant replies boastfully, looking Osward in the eye, "it's crap!"
SPACE At this, the man roars a deep laughter. "Oh, you are an ornery and feisty dwarf, aren't you?" he laughs. He slaps grant on the back and replies, "But, then, I've never met a dwarf who wasn't!
SPACE "No, it's not dwarven, but it's the best I've got."

SPACE Grant and Alliandra decide to split a set of twin hand axes, cleanly sharpened and laced up with leather at the handle. Conner falls in love with an enormous bastard sword leaning against one wall. It pommel is iron inlaid with silver. The guard on its hilt is set with two small greenish-gray gemstones, one at each end. Arguing the price for some time, they finally arrive at the price of 30 coins if Osward is allowed to remove the gemstones. He does so, and hands Conner his new weapon. Alasdair is disappointed in the lack of daggers. Osward explains that most folks just buy brand new daggers from Kelly & Kelly down the road, rather than buy fine, refurbished daggers from him. The group also inquires about armor. Osward merely laughs.
SPACE "There's no armorer here in Deepbush," he explains. "You'd have to go to Hok Liggle for that, although, if leathers are what your searching for, there's a tanner at the end of this road."
SPACE The group thanks Osward and then bids him farewell. They decide to check out the tanner.

SPACE At the end of the road, the tanner's shop sits. The group passes by the wheelwright's place; the farmer with his smoking pipe is long gone. As they approach the entrance to the tanner's, the rancid smell of dead fish guts slaps them in the face. Next door to the tanner's shop is a fishmonger. Several young man are visible through a set of wide open double-doors, chopping and hacking at fish after fish that they grab from a huge, iron vat on wheels. Sickening.
SPACE They enter the tanner and meet its proprietor, a good-looking man of about 25. He is friendly and offers much help, though his prices seem a bit steep. the group picks out several leather items and inquires about others. He apologizes for not being able to outfit either the barbarians or the dwarf due to size. He does offer, however, to make all the pieces in three weeks time. After the bartering, the group walks out with a leather girdle for Alliandra and a leather-covered shield for Grant.

SPACE The company decides to return to the inn.
