Quebec Seperation

Introduction

Quebec is a big part of Canada and its history. It belongs to Canada as rightly as New York State timelineand Texas belong to the United States. Both the U.S and Canada consolidated these provinces/states through war -- the Civil War for the U.S, and the battles that the English and the French fought to gain pocession of New France.New York state and Texas, and Quebec have all benefited from their home country, and if New York state and Texas are not holding referendums to break their home country apart, then, Quebec shouldn't either. It has received help and many benefits from the rest of the country when the Quebecois were in peril. For example, the most recent ice storm that caused the power failure – we sent money, food, help and everything we could do to make the people feel better. However, instead of being grateful for what we have done for them, they still want to separate from us! Even more, they have their own party called the Bloc Quebecois in the House of Commons, whose aim is to separate Quebec from Canada. Even though the votes of Parti Quebecois mainly come from Quebec, we could not have over looked the power of this party, for they were the official opposition party from the last election, and is the third largest party in the House of Commons now. Their leader, Duceppe, claims that Quebec will separate from Canada by 2000. Quebec's sovereignty, if becomes true, will create many problems – boundary, money, etc. Therefore, many people found separating a not very effective and logical solution. Almost half of the people of Quebec, however, according to the last referendum, want to have Quebec as a separated country. This issue on Quebec separation has now become a serious matter – maybe Quebec will separate by the next referendum.
