Spiritual Famine
Amos 8: 1-14
vs.11 > There is a famine of the true Word of God in churches today.
> Dead Churches - ever hear the phrase? Ever been in one?
> The famine is driving people out of the church to find something to satisfy their inner needs.
> We need preachers to deliver hot coals from God's altar - flaming arrows of conviction that will drive them to their knees.
Numbers 11: 4-6
> Is this the way we are today? Are we bored with God's menu? Do we look back and lust for the sinful past?
> We need to change our diet.
John 6: 35, 53, 63
> We need the spiritual manna in our daily diet!
Jeremiah 2: 11-13
> We are a nation that spends countless hours watching T.V. and movies - Christians are no different - this is their diet..
> Do you spend as much time in the Word as T.V.? in prayer?
Amos 8:5
> When will service be over so I can get out of here? Christians put time limits on God and expect Microwave blessings.
Deuteronomy 8: 16
> To humble - had to seek the manna daily!
> God had the key to the source - He was the key.
> Dependent upon Him - Yesterday's manna will not supply today's needs.
