The First Sin

Genesis 3: 1-13

Vs. 1 - Notice the subtle approaches of sin

Notice that sin will approach you - you will not need to go out

looking for it.

satan will cause you to question the Word of God - 1 Peter 5:8

Vs. 3 - satan will cause you to add to the Word of God - See 2:17

Vs. 4 - satan will try to convince you that the truth is a lie

Vs. 5 - The beginning of the New Age Doctrine

Vs. 6 - satan's temptations will cause you to see things in a new way

(the wrong way)

Eve has seen this tree many times but satan caused

her to see it three new ways;

  1. Appealed to the natural/physical (body) - tree was
  2. good for food

  3. Appealed to the flesh/mental (soul) - it was pleasant
  4. to look upon

  5. Appealed to the Spirit - desire to be wise

satan will tempt you completely - Body, Soul, and Spirit

He will also try to use you to get others to sin

Vs. 7 - The Spirit will convict you and make your condition known

satan will try to get you to think that you should try to take

care of your sin yourself instead of confessing it

Vs. 8 - satan will try to get you to hide from God instead of seeking

him - John 3: 19-21

Vs. 9 - God will always seek you - may send a messenger to you

Vs.10 - satan will try to make you afraid of God by dwelling on your

sin and seeing yourself as worthless

Vs.11 - God already knows the situation but will prod you to confess it

Vs.12-13 - Introduction of the Human Nature and Pride;

Failure to take responsibility - must find someone to blame
