JANET I. BUCK
Acrylic Thighs
Me, myself, acrylic thighs
with metal pipes--
relentless and unmovable
as cacti on a desert's floor.
A long, lewd list of serpents perched
on bitter curves of screaming walls--
finches on a wire charged
with fate's intrinsic accident.
Take your pick off morbid's menu.
Tongues in quicksand of their coils,
every year I taste yet more.
In terms of knives.
Of geographic carpet lice.
Split infinitives of grief
that cling like leeches to my skin.
Medicine records the rape
but doesn't change its chemistry.
