SOFTER


You see, I am softer with you,
slower with you, more myself with you.

I look up and see someone who is me
in spirit and temperament

who is so shockingly and beautifully honest
who tells me his fear and longing so simply

who sees nothing plainly
and everything through a wise child's eyes

who has experienced life as I have
and come to the same balanced questions

about ritual and love and existence.
There is passion

and there is love.
And then there is this.

This knowing and sensing
an inevitable freedom of movement

and time and sensation
of authenticity and completion.
