There is also a spring, some what hidden to the untrained eye that dwells at the Abbey.

Below is where the bodies of King Arthur and Guienivere lay after the monks moved them here from when they were originally discovered in 1191 after a devistating fire to the Abbey. King Henry II sent funds to help with the rebuilding. During the excavation for the new abbey the monks found in a deep tomb a large oak casket. Inside were the remains of a well decomposed very large man and a woman with long blonde hair, which according to witnesses of the time crumbled upon handling, also found with the bodies was this leaden cross with the inscription shown below. It is written in an ancient latin calligraphy that predates the 12th century by quite a bit. It reads:"Here lies buried the famous King Arthur, on the Isle of Avalon." (HIC IACET SEPVLTVS IHCLITVS REX ARTVRIVS IH IHSLVA AVAOHIA).

The grave was originally located just outside this window of the Lady Chapel, which is the oldest remaining Christian church in England.

There is also an obscure Holy Well that still remains in the
ruins of the Abbey
