Summary: When the past comes back to haunt Joey, can Pacey stop her pain??

Outside Joey's Dorm room

Joey and Pacey were just getting back from there date, they both knew he had a girlfriend, and that it was wrong, but they didn't care.

Jo: I had a nice time, thanks for taking me out

P: That's what friends are for

Joey looked down disappointed

Jo:(softly) Right..friends

Pacey tilted her head up, so he could look in her eyes

P:(softly) Best friends

Pacey moved in to kiss Joey, and right when there lips brushed eachother, they were interrupted by Joey's dorm room opening. Shaye jumped when she saw them, she bent down trying to pick up some of her dirty clothes up off the floor, she apologized while she did it.

S: Ohmygod, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt you two

Pacey laughed, most guys loved Shaye, but he just thought she acted like Andie, and that was a turn off.

P: It's okay, I was about to leave

S: Oh, Joey, you're phone has been ringing off the hook today

P:(joking) my aren't we the popular one

Jo:(Smiling) I had five message when we left, so someone must love me.

Pacey:(Thinking) Not as much as me

J: Well Pacey, you better go, I'm just going to check my messages, call people back, and wash clothes

P: Okay, well I'll see you guys later

Pacey walked away from them, and Joey finally spoke when he had left

Jo: you ready??

S: You don't want to check your messages? Jo: Nah, l'll check them when I get back, it was probably just Dawson

Joey went in her room, grabbed her laundry, and walked off down the hall with Shaye

2 hours later

Joey and Shaye just finished doing there laundry, and were exhausted, they walked in there room to find Mike, Shawn, and Danielle about to watch a movie.

M: Hey, you guys want to watch a movie with us?

Shaye: Sure, I'm just going to put my clothes away

Jo: Let me put my clothes away, and go check my phone messages

Shawn: Yes, your highnesses

Joey went in her room, she pressed play on her answering machine, and started folding clothes.

Message One: Hey Jo, it's Dawson, I haven't heard from you in, almost three days, you too busy for us old folks. Call me when you get a chance

Joey had to laugh, Dawson was sometimes too funny, she deleted that message and went on to her other one.

Message Two: Hey Joey, it's Andie, I talked to Pacey this morning, and he was asking questions about you, I didn't tell him anything except that you took it bad when he left, call me and tell me if that was wrong, or right, we miss you buy... call me,

Joey had to smile at Andie's message, at least she had the decency to call her, and ask her if she screwed up, Joey deleted the message and waited for the next one to come on

Message Three: Hey Joey, it's Jen, I talked to Pacey's girlfriend today, call me as soon as you get this, you will not believe this.

Joey smiled at hearing Jen's voice, she hadn't talked to her for a week, Jen was like her sister except closer. Joey saved Jen's message for some reason, and then waited for the next one to play, at the sound of the voice she could tell something was wrong.

Message Four: Joey, hey, I'm really sorry, I tried to stop Jen, but she didn't listen to me, she went and met up with Henry, I haven't heard from her since, but I just wanted to call you and tell you to call her and talk some sense into her. God, after what he did to you, I would've thought that...nevermind, I'm sorry, Bye.

Joey couldn't believe Jen would do that, Jen had promised her that she would never get involved with Henry again. Joey deleted the message, and waited for the next one to come on, she froze as the next one came on.

Message Five: Hey beautiful, no, you're ears aren't playing tricks on you, this is your good pal Henry, I had a date with Jen tonight, and you know what, I asked her to take me back. She said No,..can you believe it she said no. So, I had to teach her a little lesson, worse than the one I taught you. She's probably in the hospital right now, if someone found here that is. Well, goodnight my love.

Joey sit down on the floor, and brought her legs up under her chin. This couldn't be happening, Joey heard the next message kick in, and tears came to her eyes.

Message Six: Joey, it's me Pete, Jen had a run in with Henry, she's in the hospital, she lost a lot of blood, call me back please

Joey couldn't take it anymore

Jo:(Screaming) NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Everyone ran in to the room, and saw Joey sitting there crying

D: ohmygod, Joey, Joey, what's wrong?

Jo:(whisper) Jen...hurt...my fault

M: What?

Joey got up and dashed to the bathroom, she closed the door behind her, you could hear her getting sick, Shaye started banging on the door

Shaye: Joey, you're scaring me, Joey please open the door

D: Mike, hurry up and go get Pacey

Mike dashed out the room while Danielle, Shaye, and Shawn kept banging on the door

Pacey's Room

Pacey had just gotten in, he couldn't believe he just was on a date with the girl of his dreams, Pacey was lost in thought untill the phone started ringing

P:(thinking) Joey, Joey, Joey, couldn't stay away from me

P:(picking up the phone) Pacey here

Female's voice:(muffled) Hey Pacey Wacey

P:(frowned) Hey Sam, what are you doing up? It's almost 1 am

S:(laughing in the background) Sorry, we didn't mean to disturb you

P:(curious) where are you?

S: Holiday Inn with Ron

P:(rolling his eyes) Seriously, Where are you?

S: Seriously I am, they kicked us all out of the dorm, some girl had been raped, and beat in our dorm, so they wont let us go in

Pacey winced at the word rape, he still couldn't get over what happend to Joey

S: Pacey, Hello are you there?

P: Yeah, so are you okay?

S: Yeah, I am...Oh, I forgot to tell you, I ran into a girl who said she knew you

P: Who??

S: I can't remember her name, she was your usual blonde, big breasted woman, said she knew you from Highschool

P: Jen??

S: Yeah, thats her

P: Really?? What did you two talk about?

S: She called me Joey, and then she said she was sorry, and I told her my name, and we started talking, but she said she needed to get home, something about a date

P: Oh, I didn't know she was dating anyone, well I got to go, I'm really tired

S: Okay, I love you

P: I love you too, Joey

S: What?? What did you say?

P:(confused) I said "I love you"

S: No, you said "I love you Joey", you still love her?

Pacey couldn't lie anymore

P: Yes, I do, I'm sorry Sam

S: It's okay, I want you to be happy, and for you to be happy, I don't think we should see eachother anymore

Pacey was about to say something but Mike burst into Pacey's room

M: Pacey, there's something wrong with Joey

Pacey almost forgot to breathe

P:(into the phone) You're right, I gotta go, bye

Pacey hung up, and he left with Mike down the hall

Joey's Dorm room

When Mike, and Pacey got there, Danielle, Shawn, and Shaye were still banging on the door. Shawn stopped when he noticed Pacey come in, the other two stopped as well.

P:(confused) What's going on???

Shaye: I don't know, she came to check her messages, and then she started crying and locked herself in the bathroom, she said something about Jen being hurt.

P:(thinking) Please God, don't let Jen be the one Sam was talking about.

Pacey went over to the door, and started knocking on it, he didn't get an answer, he knocked again

P: Joey, sweetheart, it's me, please come out

Jo:(muffled) Pacey, is that you?

P: Yeah, baby, it's me, please come out, and tell me what's wrong

After a few seconds, they heard the door unlock, and Joey came out, her face was puffy, and she was still crying

P: What's wrong??

Pacey sit down on Joey's bed, Joey walked over to the Answering machine and pressed play, she then sit down on the bed, while Pacey hugged her.

AMachine: You have two new messages

Everyone was quiet, and shocked when they first heard Henry's message, and then heard Petes. Pacey just kept hugging Joey while she cried, he couldn't believe this was happening, Jen was the girl who had gotten raped, he wanted to take the pain away, he wanted Joey to never feel pain.

The phone began to ring, Joey jumped, and Pacey went over and picked up the phone.

P:(Roughly into the phone) Hello??

Male's voice: Pacey, what are you doing there?

Pacey relaxed

P: D, have you talked to Pete?

D: What?? No, Why??

P: Jen's been hurt, she's in the hospital, Do you know what hosptial is near where she lives??

D: Jen's college is probably right near Memorial Hospital, how is Joey taking it?

P: She's not doing too well over here, we're leaving to go to the hospital now D: Okay, tell me what happend

P: All I can say is that Henry's going to pay

D:(Angry) I knew it, I never trusted him, I know he did something to Joey and Jen, they never told me what it was, but all I know is they were both scared of him

P: Don't worry D, I'll call you when I find out what's going on, I gotta go though

D: Bye Pace, take care of her for me

Pacey rolled his eyes

P: Bye Dawson

Pacey hung up the phone

P: We got to go, do you guys wanna come?

Shaye&M: I'll go pack

P:(nodded) Danielle?? Shawn??

D: No, I have to work tommorow, but call me when you find out anything

Shawn: I'll stay with Danielle

Mike dashed out the door, and Shaye begin putting Joey and her things in a bag, Pacey just picked up Joey's hand and squeezed it.

Soon, they were in Mike's car, Pacey was in the backseat with Joey, she had stopped crying, but now she just was shaking, he never let go of her hand.

Memorial Hosptial

Joey, Pacey, Mike and Shaye ran to the nearest Nurses station, Pacey stopped a nurse who was about to get up from her desk.

P: Excuse me, this is really urgent, where is Jen Lindley's room??

N: Are you family?

Before Pacey had a chance to speak, Joey took off a pair of sunglasses she was wearing, and spoke up

J: She's my sister

The nurse looked at the girl, she could tell that Jen and her weren't related, but she felt sorry for her.

N: She's on the second floor, intensive care unit

They got on the elevator, and when the doors opened for them to step off, they saw Jack seated in a chair looking at the floor, and Pete pacing the floor

Pa: How's she?

Pete looked up and saw Joey, and someother people walking towards him

Pe: Jen's in coma right now, they don't know if she's going to make it

Pa: Did they find Henry??

Ja:(stuttering) He had um killed himself, they found a note

Joey sit down in a chair on the right side of Jack

Jo:(softly) What did it say?

Ja:(Voice quivering) It said that he had made your's and her life miserable, and he had probably killed the one thing he loved, so he decided to kill himself to make it better.

Pacey sit down next to Joey, and held her hand

Pacey looked up, and saw a doctor heading his way, everyone stood up

Dr: Are you guys here for Ms. Lindley?

Everyone nodded

Dr: We tried everything but we couldn't get her back, I'm sorry...we took her off the machine, I would normally let you see the patient, but she was beaten up pretty badly, and I don't think any of you would like to see that.

The doctor was about to turn around, and walk away, but Joey stopped him

Jo: Wait, please, let me see her

Pa: Jo, are you sure you want to do this?

Jo:Yes

Joey looked at the doctor

Dr: If you want to, follow me

Joey began walking away with the doctor

Pa: Wait, I'm coming with you

The doctor nodded, Joey gave Pacey a little smile

They reached Jen's room

Dr: She'll just look like she's sleeping

The doctor left, Joey and Pacey entered the room, and walked over to where Jen was lying. Jen's hair looked like someone had taken a pair of scissors to it, and her face was bruised and her body looked a ugly shade of purple and red. Joey leaned down and kissed Jen lightly on her cheek, and held her hand

Jo: I'm so sorry Jen, I know this wasn't my fault, but I just wish I was there to stop him from hurting you, I love you so much. Jen, I found Pacey again, you were right, you said if I wished hard enough, he'd come back to me. If I wish hard enough, will you come back?

Joey turned and began crying onto Pacey's shirt, Pacey hugged her to him, and started talking to Jen

P: Jen, you were like a sister to me. You don't believe how much we miss you, I'll take care of Joey for you, and she'll take care of me, we love you.

Pacey wrapped an arm around Joey and led her outside, this was going to be a tough day.

B&B

3 AM

It had been 3 days since Jen had died, earlier today they buried her. Alot of people had shown up for the funeral: The Leery's, The Mcphees, The Potters, and Grams, and Jen's mom were even there. During the funeral he thought Joey was going to cry, she was taking it the hardest, but he knew that when the time came, she'd cry on his shoulder.

Joey had wanted to do something special at the funeral, so she had sang this song "Missing you", it was really beautiful, he guessed it described her feelings about Jen. Pacey felt Joey stir and talk in her sleep, he gently woke her up, Joey opened her eyes, and he knew she had another nightmare about Jen's death.

Jo:(Silently crying) I miss her so much Pace

P: I know you do baby, we all do

Jo: Thanks for staying with me, I love you

Pacey kissed her on her forehead

Pa: I love you too, and I'll never leave you

Pacey knew that Joey would never be the same, she had just lost one of her bestfriends, but he was going to make sure that Joey never went through something like this again.
