Summary: Joey has to deal with the aftermath of Jen's death, and Pacey and Doug struggle with there father, and the way he's treated them.

Grocery Store
Thursday Morning
Pacey and Joey were walking around the grocery store, doing Bessie's grocery
shopping for her
Joey sighed
Pa: You okay? You want me to take you back to Bessies, and come back here?
Jo: No, I'm fine, I just can't wait till we go back to Boston tomorrow, I
mean I love being home, but so many things remind me of my past..and of Jen.
Joey said the last part quietly, Pacey was still worried about her, but he
was glad that he saw her smile every once in awhile.
Joey picked up a loaf of bread, and put it in the basket, she was going to
continue walking untill Pacey stopped her, and held her, she could've stayed
there forever.
Joey heard someone clearing there throat, so she let go of him, but grabbed
for his hand when she saw who it was.
Man's Voice: Well, Well, Well...if it isn't the town loser, and what do we
have here, he's in the arms of a Potter girl.
Joey felt Pacey tense up, she gave his hand a light squeeze, hoping that he
would calm down. Joey wanted to punch Mr. Witter, she didn't know how Pacey
could've taken so much of his dad's abuse growing up. Joey was about to say
something, but Mr. Witter started up again.
MrWitter: I thought by sending you off to live with your grandparents, I
would never ever have to see your face again, what are you doing back here?
P:(Calm but angry) Well, if you talked to your mother and father in-law, you
would know that a friend of mine was murderd.
Joey winced at the words..murderd..she was still getting used to the idea
that Jen was gone. She wouldn't be able to call her, and tell her about girl
things, like how hot guys were, or just random stuff.
MW: If you thought you were going to get an ounce of sympathy from me, you
were wrong. She probably only hung out with you for pity, you're nothing in
my eyes, you don't even exist.
P:(sarcastic) Oh, that's right, you only have one son, and his name is Doug--
Pacey was about to continue, but Mr Witter cut him off
MW:(Angry) I don't ever want to hear his name again, you hear me. If I ever
see you or hear you call me dad again, I will personally make your life a
living hell, just like I made his.
MrWitter was about to leave, but then he looked at Joey
MW: You're a smart girl, I don't know why you hang out with the likes of him,
if I were you, I'd dump him and move on, you could do better
MrWitter turned and walked out of the grocery store, Pacey and Joey finished
up there shopping in silence. They finished putting the bags in the car and
Pacey was about to hop in as well, untill he felt Joey's hand on his
shoulder, he turned around, and she pulled him towards her
P:(Hugging Joey) I can get over him saying all of that stuff about me, but I
just don't understand why he hates me so much, am I that so hard to love
Joey pushed him back slightly, so she could she his face
Jo: Pacey, look at me, people love you, Dawson loves you, Bessie loves you,
and I love you
Pacey shook his head, and looked at her
P: Joey, you heard what he said to you, you could do so much better, I'm
nothing, I'm just a town loser.
Jo: Yes, I heard him, but he's wrong Pacey. You're so much more than him,
you're smart, you're funny, you're good looking, and you were and still
aren't a loser.
Pacey:(thinking) She's right, I can't believe I let him affect me like this
P:(smiling) Potter, you really think so?
Jo:(Smiling)Yep, and one more thing, it doesn't matter what anyone says,
because I'm going to love you anyways
Pacey hugged Joey closer to him, and leaned down slowly
P:(Whispering That's what I love about you, Potter, you always know just what
to say
Jo:(half smile) Well, I must admit, I stole a line or two from Janet Jackson
P:(quietly) Stooping to the Jacksons level, Joey I had no idea
Joey leaned in, and brushed her lips against Paceys, she traced her tounge,
and then slid it through Pacey's lip. Pacey wrapped his arms around her back,
and passionantly kissed her back, untill she was breathless.
Pa:(Smiling) Well, sticking to the Janet Jackson Theme, "You know you want me"
Joey rolled her eyes at Pacey, and leaned in to give him another kiss, but he
stopped her
Jo: What's wrong?
Pa:(Joking) I know you would love to continue standing here kissing me, but
there's an audience
Joey looked around, and there was old couple staring at them, she looked back
at Pacey
Jo:(smirk) Like that's stopped you before
Pa:(smiling) Joesphine, I do remember Bessie saying that she wanted us to
hurry back
Jo:(pulling away from his arms) You never listen to your elders, why start
now?
Pacey opened the passenger side of the car, letting Joey in, and got in on
the other side
Pa:(smiling) I listen to my elders, when they're related to the girl I'm in
love with
Pacey and Joey smiled at eachother, and they pulled out of the parking space
B&B
Joey and Pacey arrived back at the house, and we're about to pull in the
driveway, when Joey noticed something odd.
Jo:(curious) Um, Pace..isn't that Doug's car?
Pacey looked over to where Joey was pointing
P: Yeah, it is
Pacey parked the car, and turned off the engine
Jo: I wonder what he's doing here?
P: Maybe he needs a shoulder to cry on, since dad, or should I say Mr Witter,
kicked him out
Joey looked at Pacey, she could tell he was hurting
Jo: Remember, I'm here for you, if you need a shoulder to cry on
P:(smiling) Thanks potter, I'll remember that
Pacey and Joey got the bags out of the car, and started heading for the door.
Joey opened the door, and there on the living room couch, sit: Bessie, Bodie,
Doug, and some other lady. Bessie and Bodie got up, and took the bags from
Joey and Pacey.
Be: If you'll excuse us, we'll just go put this away
Bessie and Bodie headed for the kitchen, Joey grabbed Pacey's hand and sit
him next to Doug on the couch
Do: Pacey, this is my wife Kelly
Joey was completley stunned, she always thought Doug was gay, she looked over
at Pacey to see his reaction, Pacey on the other hand didn't take his eyes
off of Doug
P:(thinking) Why the hell is Doug here? His wife? When did he get married?
Figures I wouldn't get an invitation
Jo:(half-smile)It's nice to meet you
K: Oh, we've met before
Joey looked at Kelly, she knew that she had seen that face before, but she
couldn't place it
Do: She's Bodie's neice
Joey still couldn't place her, so she just nodded her head.
Pa: Now that introductions are over, Doug, what are you doing here?
Do: I wanted to explain to you, why you couldn't move in with me when you
asked
Pacey stood up
P:(Angry) There's nothing to explain, you hated my guts, so you had dad ship
me off
Do:(Begging) Pacey, that's not how it happend, please sit down, just listen
to me for five minutes
Pacey was about to kick Doug and his wife out, but Joey took a hold of his
hand
Jo: Just listen to him, please Pace, for me
Pacey looked at Joey, she knew he could never say no to her, he sit down, and
looked at Doug
P:(roughly) Five minutes
Doug breathed a sigh of relief, and then started explaning
Do: The reason why you couldn't move in, was because Kelly was expecting, and
at first we didn't want anyone to know, because we thought we were going to
give it up for adoption.
Pa: That still doesn't make sense
Doug waved his hand to Pacey, meaning there was more to the story
Do:Kelly lived with me, and none of you guys knew, and I knew that dad didn't
like people.... who were different than him
Joey and Pacey looked confused, Kelly piped in
K: Translation: he's a racist old fart
Joey had to smile, Doug had snagged himself a smart, and blunt women.
Do:(continuing) Since Bodie's brother and sister -in- law are racists as
well, and had cut all contact off with Bodie when he started dating Bessie,
we tried to hide our relationship
Joey looked like she understood
Jo: So, the reason why you didn't want Pacey to move in, was because you
didn't want him to have to lie?
Doug and Kelly nodded, Pacey seemed to have calmed down enough to listen more
intently
P: So, what happend?
Do: Well, we had the baby, and we didn't want to give her up, so, after a
couple of months, we knew we had to tell dad
Jo: So, I'm guessing, he didn't take it well
K: Let's just say, after we got screamed at, and cursed at, and thrown out of
his house, it went all downhill from there.
Jo: It got worse?
Do:Much, dad pulled some strings, and I got fired
P:(shocked) He can't do that, can he?
Do: Oh, he did, and he can, and the guy who sold me my apartment, was an old
friend, who owed dad a favor, so with Kelly and me both not working, we were
homeless
Joey was about to ask where they stayed, but Pacey must've red what she was
thinking
P: So, where'd you guys live?
Do: Well, Kelly stayed here at the B&B with the baby, and I went on some job
interviews in Providence
Joey now rememberd Kelly, she had mostly stayed in her room, only going out
in the daytime, and coming home early, and not bothering anyone, the best
guest they ever had. Joey was really not around when Kelly had come to stay
though, she had just been raped, and was spending most of her time with Jen.
Joey winced as the thought of Jen came into her head, and Pacey noticed
P:(worried) you okay?
Joey nodded, Pacey knew it wasn't nothing, but just stroked her hand, and
decided to ask her about it later
Do:(continuing) So, I got a job, and I moved Kelly and the baby out to live
with me in Providence
P: Not to sound rude or anything, but what do you two do for a living?
K:(grin)I'm a nurse, and Doug here, is a bartender
Joey had to smile at the thought of Doug bartending.
Pa: So, where's the baby?
Do: Mrs.Leery wanted to watch her, while we talked, would you like to come
with me to go get her?
Pacey looked at Joey
Pa: Jo, I don't have to go if you don't want me to
Joey could tell Pacey really wanted to go, and far be it for her to stand
between family bonding
Jo: Don't worry about me, I was just going to ask Kelly if she wanted to come
with me for a little shopping
Kelly perked up at the word "shopping"
K: I'd love to
They all laughed at Kelly's eagerness
P:(smiling) Well, I think Kelly will be driving you to the store, because
with the way you drive, Potter, I wouldn't let you anywhere on the road
Joey gently slugged Pacey on the arm
Jo: My driving is NOT that bad
Doug piped up
Do: I seem to remember a certin Brunette getting a speeding ticket a day
after she got her license
Pacey and Doug laughed as Joey blushed, and glared at them
Do: Don't worry Jo, Kelly isn't the best driver either
K:(glaring at the guys) We can see that we're not wanted, you ready to go,
Joey
J: Yep, and Pacey one more thing
P:(smiling) Yeah
Jo: You're sleeping on the couch tonight
Joey walked out the door, Doug began to laugh at Pacey's worried expression
K: I wouldn't laugh too hard Doug, you're joining him
Kelly walked out the door, Doug and Pacey looked at eachother, and raced out
behind her
Food Court
After laughing over Pacey and Doug's attempt to get on there good side, Kelly
and Joey headed to the mall, they first stopped at the Food court.
Jo: Just out of curiousity, where did Doug and you meet?
K:(smiling) I was working at this coffee shop, so I could pay my tution, I
mean my parent's were helping me out, but I still wanted to help them. So, I
came into work one day, I was afraid that I had failed my finals and I had
just found my then-boyfriend and roommate in a compromising situation, so I
was all pissed, and I thought I was going to either blow up or cry my eyes
out, and that's when it happend. Doug came in, and he asked me for a cup of
coffee, and I said "What, No donuts", and he smiled at me. I didn't know it
then, but my boss was right behind me, and he had been looking for a reason
to fire me, so I got fired on the spot. I really didn't care much about the
job, but all of the stress, had finally made me crumble, I ran out of there
so fast.
Jo:(interested) Wow, then what happend??
K: I can't remember much, I just know that I woke up, and I was at Doug's
apartment, so I started freaking out, and I was like "Ohmygod, he's got a
gun" I forgot the fact that he was a cop, and acted like a fool
Joey had to smile at Karen, she was so interesting to watch, she used her
hands and facial expressions to describe every detail in a story.
K: So, anyways, he gets me to calm down, and he tells me he's a cop, and that
he saw me passed out on the ground, and his house was right across the
street, so he took me there. So, we started talking, and then one thing led
to another, and I end up spending the night.
Jo: I'm impressed, I mean, I always thought Doug was gay, and now look at
him, he's standing up for the woman he loves, and there daughter.
K: Yeah, but it's like, wow, I mean he chose me over his father, and that
was, it was unbelievable, he really looked up to his father, I don't see how
he could've though. Doug seems to think that I'm too good to be true, and my
parents have come around, but they think I should dump him, like Mr Witter
think he should divorce me.
Kelly and Joey ate there food in silence for a second, both thinking about
the ones they loved.
Jo: Well, Pace and I had a little run in with Mr Witter this morning
Karen raised an eyebrow, telling Joey to go on
Jo: Basically, he said that Pacey was a loser, and that he didn't know what I
saw in him
K: Ouch, so what happend after that?
Jo: Well, he left, and I basically quoted a line from a song my roommate
listens to, and I told him all the things that I loved about him
K: What line, and what song?
Jo: "it doesn't matter what they say, cause I'm going to love you anyway"
K:(smiled) I know that song, good move
Joey got up
K: I'm really not in the mood to shop, do you mind if we go home
Jo: Sure, but do you mind if I stop at a store, you know, I want to make
sure, that Pacey will remember next time?
Kelly looked confused, but then she understood
K: Yeah, I think I'm going to make sure Doug does as well
Joey and Kelly dumped there garbage in the trashcan, and walked off
B&B
Next morning
Pacey, Joey, Kelly, and Doug were standing by there cars, getting ready to go
back to Boston, and to Providence.
Doug leaned in his car, and strapped his daughter April into her car seat,
and then he close the door and stood infront of Pacey
Do: Well, I guess this is goodbye
Doug gave Pacey a manly hug
P:(quietly) Yeah, well I can honestly say, getting to patch things up between
you and I, was the best part of it
Do:(whispering) Take care of her, she may act like she's happy, but she's
crying on the inside
Pacey nodded, and let go of Doug
Jo: Well, I guess this is it, I'm going to miss you Kelly
K: Me too Jo
Kelly gave Joey a long hug
K:(Whispering) I put the gift on Pacey's dashboard
Joey nodded, and let go of Kelly
Do: Don't forget you two, there's an open invitation for you guys to come
stay with us, for awhile that is
Pacey smiled, Joey gave Doug a brief hug, and a kiss on the cheek, which he
blushed at
K:(joking) Hey, lay your hands off my man
They all laughed, and got into there cars, Doug took off, Pacey was about to
but he noticed a gift, and a card on his dashboard
P:(curious) What's this?
Jo:(innocently) I don't know, why dont you open it??
Pacey began to tear at the gift wrapping off, untill Joey stopped him
Jo:(rolling her eyes)Don't you think you should read the card first? You do
want to know who it's from
P:(pouting) Yes, Ma'am
Joey smacked Pacey's arm, and Pacey opened the card
P:(reading) Pace, you and me have been through so much together, and I know
that our relationship is just starting, but I love you, and no matter what
anyone says, I'm going to keep loving you. I love you...Joey
Pacey looked up at Joey, and noticed she was blushing
Jo: You weren't suppose to read it outloud
Pacey let out a slight chuckle, and leaned in and kissed her, he then opened
up the gift, and put the cd in, and heard exacactly what she was saying.
