Winnie Belle Wood, R.N.
as remembered by her sister Catherine

Of her own name, she said, "W.B.W. -- Winnie the Bread Winner."  Winnie was a highly responsible, care-taking person, for her own orphaned siblings and for others of her community.  She was one of Georgia's first public health nurses, serving the poorest of the rural poor.  And she caught tuberculosis from her patients and died from it.  She was a hero.
