Δηοί παμμήτειρα, θεά, πολυώνυμε δαίμον,

(Dee-ee pam-mee-tee-rah, theh-ah, poh-lee-oh-nee-meh deh-mon)

O Deoi mother of all, Goddess, daemon with many names,

σεμνή Δήμητερ, κουροτρόφος, ολβιοδώτι,

(sem-nee Dee-mee-tehr, koo-roh-troh-fos, ol-vee-oh-doh-tee)

much respected Demeter, who nourishes the children, giver of happiness,

πλουτοδότειρα θεά, σταχυοτρόφε, παντοδότειρα,

(ploo-toh-doh-tee-rah theh-ah, stah-hee-oh-troh-feh, pan-toh-doh-tee-rah)

O Goddess giver of riches, who nourishes the corn, vessel of all,

ειρήνη χαίρουσα καί εργασίαις πολυμόχθοις,

(ee-ree-nee-heh-roo-sah keh eh-r-gah-see-es poh-lee-moh-chthees)

who is pleased by peace and hard work,

σπερμείη, σωρίτις, αλωαίη,

(speh-r-mee-ee, soh-ree-tees, ah-loh-eh-ee)

Protector of the seed, giver of wheat, present at the threshing of the fields,

χλοόκαρπε, ή ναίεις αγνοίσιν Ελευσίνος γυάλοισιν.

(hloh-oh-kar-peh, ee neh-ees ag-nee-seen Eh-lev-see-nos gee-ah-lee-seen)

Producer of the pale fruit, dweller in the Sacred Valley of Eleusis.

Ιμερόεσσ'ερατή, θνητών θρέπτειρα προπάντων

(Ee-meh-roh-es-seh-rah-tee, thnee-tohn threh-ptee-rah pro-pan-toh-n)

Much desired and much loved, sustainer of all mortals,

πρώτη υποζεύξασα βοών αροτήρα τένοντα,

(pro-tee ee-poh-zev-ksah-sah voh-oh-n ah-roh-tee-rah teh-non-tah)

first to harness the Ox to plough the fields,

καί βίον ιμερόεντα βροτοίς πολύοβλον ανείσα,

(keh vee-on ee-meh-roh-en-tah vroh-tees poh-lee-oh-vlon ah-nee-sah)

and who brought to mortals the much desired and very pleasant life,

αυξιθαλής,

(av-ksee-thah-lees)

who helps to increase the fruit,

Βρομίοιο συνέστιος, αγλαότιμος.

(vroh-mee-ee-oh see-neh-stee-os, ag-lah-oh-tee-mohs)

who dwells with Dionysos and is honoured with splendour.

Λαμπαδόεσσ', αγνη, δρεπάνοις χαίρουσα θερείοις.

(lam-pah-doh-ess, ag-nee, dreh-pah-nees heh-roo-sah theh-ree-ees)

Who holds the torch, Pure, who is glad with the summer harvest.

Σύ χθονίη, σύ δέ φαινομένη, σύ δέ πάσι προσηνής,

(see chthoh-nee-ee, see deh feh-noh-meh-nee, see deh pah-see pro-see-nees)

You are under the earth but you are visible and to all are you friendly,

Εύτεκνε, παιδοφίλη, σεμνή, κουροτρόφε κούρη,

(ev-tek-neh, peh-doh-fee-lee, sem-nee, koo-roh-troh-fe koo-ree)

Affectionate One, lover of children, Respected, daughter who feeds the children,

άρμα δρακοντείουσιν υποζεύξασα χαλινοίς,

(ar-mah drah-kon-tee-oo-seen ee-poh-zev-ksah-sah ha-lee-nees)

with the draconian bridled chariot driven by the followers of Dionysos,

εγλυκλίοις δίναις πέρι σόν θρόνον ευαζόντων.

(eg-lee-klee-ees dee-nes peh-ree soh-n throh-non ev-ah-zohn-tohn)

crying out, while they circle round your throne.

Μουνογενής, πολύτεκνε θεά,

(moo-noh-geh-nees, poh-lee-tek-neh theh-ah)

Monogenetic and Polygenetic Goddess,

πολυπότνια θνητοίς, ής πολλαί μορφαί,

(poh-lee-pot-nee-ah thnee-tees, ees poh-leh mor-feh)

Much respected amongst mortals and who is with many forms.

πολυάνθεμοι, ιεροθηλείς,

(poh-lee-an-theh-mee, ee-eh-roh-thee-lees)

surrounded with many flowers, that blossom in holiness.

ελθέ, μάκαιρ', αγνή, καρποίς βρίθουσα θερείοις,

(el-theh, mah-kehr, ag-nee, kar-pees vree-thoo-sah theh-ree-ees)

Come, o blessed purity, with the summer's fruit,

ειρήνην κατάγουσα και ευνομίην ερατεινήν.

(ee-ree-neen kah-tah-goo-sah keh ev-noh-mee-een eh-rah-tee-neen)

bestow among us peace and perfect law and order,

και πλούτον πολύοβλον, ομού δ'υγίειαν άνασσαν.

(keh ploo-toh-n poh-lee-oh-vlon, oh-moo dee-gee-ee an ah-nahs-sahn)

and riches of much happiness, with the queen of health.
