PREFACE

TO

"HISTORY OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA LODGE"

The South Carolina Lodge in particular and Masonry in general owes a debt of gratitude to V. W. Bro. Edward G. Groves, P.G.D. who has over a period of thirty years researched and compiled the data pres- ented in these pages.

It is my belief that Brethren in general should be aware of the history and traditions of their Lodge, which has for, South Carolina Brethren, become readily available as a result of the work of V. W. Bro. Groves.

Having read these pages I am confident that the Brethren of South Carolina will have a better understanding of the history and traditions of their Lodge and will be encouraged to continue with pride and diligence the traditions of the past. It will also I am sure, stir a realisation and better understanding of the striving for perfection of all who have gone before, thereby forging an immortal link with the past.

It is therefore, both my pleasure and honour as fiftieth Master of the re-formed Lodge to commend this short history of the Lodge to all Brethren hoping that you will find pleasure and profit from these pages.
