"When was the last time you talked with yourself? Does that seem strange? Too often, the idea is associated with mental acuity weakening. You actually talk with yourself each day and night, but most people do not think of it that way. Who is listening? It gets very complicated. The Spirit, of course, is well aware of each thought and imprinting it within, and the body is 'listening' too. We influence our bodies as well as our spirit.
Too often, the conversation and the imprinting that is done daily is of a destructive nature. It tears away at the self esteem, and influences the personality. It seems silly to become aware of what we are thinking or 'saying' to ourselves. Some do speak out loud to hear better, but usually when others are not around. There is a constant flow of thoughts and feelings that wind around each other like a DNA strand. At times there is such an 'overflow' that the strand becomes twisted and confusion results. There are times when we need to clear out the negative bombardment that becomes entangled within.
Many people are very hard on themselves. They are critical and judgmental and sometimes demanding. They even call themselves negative names. This does not do honor to the Spirit within or the personality of the individual. When was the last time you complimented yourself? There is much written on ego and there is an awareness of those who have a pronounced ego, so much restraint is shown. However, it is healthy to compliment self on a job well done, or a good action, or even to comfort with words.
No one ever expects Self to answer back. It is discounted and often referred to as 'hearing things' and it is not often spoken of, but it is possible to 'hear' Self. It takes quietness, and it takes practice. It is sometimes a silent communication that has a 'knowing' to it. It is often a feeling that has a harmony that is experienced in the mind and the body. Of course, we are not advocating a constant conversation any more than listening to a constant talker. There needs to be a balance of the sending and receiving of messages. There are times when a particular problem seems to have no obvious answer. Letting this problem be received by the inner Self and allowing a quiet time for an answer will bring interesting results. You have probably heard someone say "I wonder why I didn't think of that before".
Conversation with Self is important to allow for understanding, and to allow for growth of the spirit. Reviewing the information you put inside yourself is a difficult thing to do for the mind is lightening fast. Being aware of the type of information you are giving yourself will go far in recognizing the imbalances that are being created by the mind. Substituting more positive thoughts will create a better balance between the mind, the body, and the spirit. This is not a rote type of communication, but simply an increased awareness of the type of information that is becoming a part of you.
Be a little kinder to yourselves."
