Trying

"How many times do we try something? How many times do we continue to reach for something and have it slip out of our grasp? Is there a limit or number that we should reach for or do we lean on the personality's endurance? At what point do we stop? It is difficult to get answers for these questions that will cover the many variations that one can count in number of times reaching for a goal.

What happens when you try and do not obtain your goal? Is it a signal to stop, a sign of failure, or a challenge? What signals the stop? Do you wait later and try again or reach the stop on one try? It appears we are asking many questions, but the point is to set a framework for you to see yourself in. Knowing how you reach goals and how often you try is important to have some knowledge of so that you can see if it is a pattern that is overall in your life or based on the difficulty of that which is sought.

Some goals are difficult to reach and perseverance and determination must walk hand in hand with trying. Trying does not have to be an all out effort of an action tried and then given up. Trying may be necessary on a daily basis though this is not exactly an encouraging thing to consider. If we look at it as a daily action, it can quickly become a discouraging or even depressing thought. Still, life requires trying each day. It may be for small goals or it may be for a major one, but it is a pattern that is interwoven in our daily activities. It may be a moment or two or it may be an all day feeling but it is still there. Perhaps knowing it is a part of life we can approach it without as much stress and see it as taking action, taking steps, perhaps changing approaches, and making progress. We also need to see this trying not as one has a daily measuring stick but simply that you do what you can. You can try to be positive and realize that measurement of 'trying' may take a stretch of time before results can be seen. It is when we try and do not see gain that there is a negative reaction, yet just in the act of trying, there is a gain.

Realize that trying has patterns and different levels of strength. We may give it "our all" one day and barely be able to make it with energy and commitment the next. Still, if we continue, we are making progress in a spiritual way that may not be seen in the outward form. So we would encourage you to be a little less demanding of yourselves and simply involve and incorporate your trying into your daily actions. At some point you will be able to get a better picture of the ground you have covered and the validity of the actions you have taken."
