"Peace within a person does not necessarily mean that peace on the outer will manifest. To change an environment to that of a peaceful one usually takes more than one unless the space has been layered with peace by one individual. It is probably one of the most difficult states to obtain. Many try to stay in a balanced state so that circumstances and activities and people do not affect them unduly. However, it is a rare individual who can do that under varied circumstances. How then does one obtain peace? How to keep a balance? It is best done by filtering. Filtering is a process where the irritants that come like dust are processed through a filter which decides whether they are important or not. This is also not easy to do.

When we are handling irritants, the ones that bother us the most are sometimes small and sometimes large. The size of the action really doesn't matter if the result or reaction is the same. At some point in the filtering process, we have to decide which irritant to let go of and which irritant to dwell on. If we dwell too long on a minor one, we can enlarge it in our minds to the point where it loses the size it was originally. Emotions cloud so often, and emotions can tangle the reasoning power of the mind. Each individual should look into the process which works best for most situations. Moving away from the situation and looking at it objectively is a good start. Selecting actions (and sometimes reactions) will differ with each irritant. This is because the emotions of one situation can differ from the emotions set in motion in another situation.

As we learn to organize and categorize these irritants, they will seem to fall into an order of importance. At first, it is a step by step process in filtering. Then, as the process becomes more familiar, the selection and importance of the irritants seem to go much more smoothly. As these irritants are dismissed or put in the category of 'I can live with that' or 'That's really not that important', there is then space to work on being balanced and to bring peace into one's life. As peace becomes more evident, the individual can then learn to project that peace into the environment and toward others.

True peace is a state of being that allows no negative action or thought to enter. This state may seem out of reach in this day with all the conflicts and uneven energies that surround each person. Still, to not try to reach some little bit of peace is to never know the comfort and balance it can bring. Be it and you will see it."
