Attainment

"What are you reaching for in the way of accomplishment? Do you have a clear set idea or are you the type who just manages each day? If you ask most people what their goal is, their answer will involve money or a position in their chosen occupation. If it is the time for education, then the more immediate goal is to either graduate, or to make certain grades, or to persevere. If it involves health, then the goal is to become well or to become better healthwise.

We have daily goals -- some so simple we are not aware of them. On some days we set our goal by what we need to attain that particular day. Therein is a key. To have a goal we need to be aware of the steps of attainment. Some goals are out of reach. Those kind of goals become dreams. Dreams can become real, but it takes much more than desire. It takes an unlimited belief in the possibiity of the goal being attained.

Attainment can come in little ways and there are many approaches that work for different individuals. Setting up a framework of smaller goals is encouraging, yet others may dislike the regimented approach and settle for the larger goal without the details. There is no set program though the main ingredient must be desire. Without the desire of reaching for something, the goal becomes merely mind play.

One's goal should never be so far out of reach that there is not the time or application needed to reach for it. If it is a large, overall goal, it needs to be broken down into smaller attainment possible levels. Constant frustration can lead to giving up and too often another goal is not then substituted. There is no "ranking" of goals. There may be a small goal that when implemented causes an effect that ripplies on to others. We usually don't know how others are touched by, not only our accomlishment, but how we act along the path to attainment. For the most part, our most important goals do not show and sometimes they are not evident even though it may be a short term goal. What the world see is not as important as what the self feels. Though it is important to show the world in some instances, it is more important that the Spirit within feels the progress and awareness of reaching to be a better Self."
