Riches

        "What did you think of when you first saw the title "Riches?" Was it money? That is the usual association, not uncommon to the point of being common through many, many cultures. Ah to be rich! Seemingly all the problems disappear or are made easier, or at least that is what we would like to believe. It actually can bring on problems unforseen. We would all like to be comfortable to the point of not having to worry about financial worries. So often you'll hear someone say they don't want to be rich, just have enough to be comfortable, not to have to worry. Unfortunately, things don't usually work that way.

        We could get into a quite involved discussion here on money and its use,but for this particular topic, let's look at what riches are. Basically, riches take away the sense of lack of security, they bring usthe extras that make us more comfortable or the pleasures that we couldnot otherwise afford. There is nothing wrong with riches. It is the way they are used that is too often the downfall of so many. It can bring an individual many, many 'things' but still leave the individual searching for 'something'.It can be used wisely and bring comfort and care to others, but we limit ourselves when we think of riches and money.

        How about 'rich' with love? Perhaps you do not have it, perhaps you have a jaded feeling toward it because of various negative experiences, but what kind of love are we talking about or are you thinking about? Love, the caring for others, can bring a feeling of richness. To shareand to spread the light of love is an experience that can be used to grow in spiritual awareness and personal growth. It doesn't have to be large doses. Sometimes the sharing of a bit of warmth toward a stranger can change and influence a life. We all have different ways of expressing ourselves and yet we forget that each individual shares in a unique way because each of us is unique. So in sharing our particular 'richness' we share what another cannot give in the exact same way, yet in the sharing there is a blending, a melding, a common threading and interweaving of the light. When it is given, it does not disappear. Itcan be given to others. It is in the giving, the sharing that one can feel 'rich.' The sense of that which is within us all can be shared andreaches out to be shared. It should be spent by giving. It is that particular spending that pays big dividends and is never lost though it would seem so by the way it is sometimes received.

        To feel rich, give of the self, and in the giving, there will be fulfillment that brings a feeling of riches."
