The word payment brings up all kinds of images, but most of them are
those that cause stress. The bills that are stretched out, the piper
that must be paid, in some cases it seems it goes on unending. We see,
we want, we buy, we pay, or we need and are willing to make payments to
attain what we need. Whether it is a one time payment or many, many
payments over a period of time, we all make payments. Why would a
spiritual website be talking about payments? Isn't that too
materialistic, or is it to show that payments are not always for those
things that can be seen.
There are other payments. We pay with health problems for the way we
think, live, and eat. Each action is a payment and though it should be
somewhat obvious, it seems to be, to many, a surprise as to the way
this manifests. Many times there are warnings from surveys, test results
and findings, and yet this does not seem to sway that many people to a
different way of life. We make payments to our bodies and our bodies
pay us back. There are, of course, exceptions to these steps as
disturbances and illness in the body is sometimes hereditary or there
for a reason.
Our thoughts influence us so much and all around us our thoughts
project
outward. The type of thought is reflected back to us and we pay for
that which we have sent out. Rather like a double sided mirror we
sometimes see the effect by the emotional reactions of those around us.
The payment of negative thoughts brings us to negative situations while
the positive thoughts soften the reality of the world as it exists.
Hard work is a good payment. It does not always seem so if there is a
firing, or an unexpected change of jobs, or underpayment, or work which
has no pay. Yet hard work pays back with strength of character,
discipline, and a feeling of accomplishment unless the overload becomes
just that. We see people who are stooped from too much work and the
evidence is usually etched in their bodies in some way except for those
who thrive on hard work and its challenge. Remember that the results
of hard work are not necessarily always seen. You may be a role model for
someone or an influence for good.
As we progress from time to time in life, it is wise to look at the days in our lives as payment. This payment has a resulting effect at what appears to be an ending, but is really a beginning. Let your life be a payment toward that which will elevate your spirit.
