In peace, there is understanding. Not in peace
versus war, but in the
state of peace, of being at peace. Do we ever
think of it, do we wonder
about it, or do we live our lives day to day so
that there is no space
for any of that kind of thinking? Peace is a
rarity it would appear and
if we look at others and at the lives around us,
we might agree this is
so. We run from day to day, we seem to never
stop long enough to do
more than take a break. If there is not a sense
of being hurried there
is seldom a sense of having any time for self.
You may immediately say,
but I have to take care of my family, do my work,
get the food, and all
the other things associated with daily life.
Business/work is such a
large part of our lives and defines who we are to
others, but who we are
seems a little beyond our reach. Is there any
time to think on it?
When times are troubled there is more stress and
uneasiness and many
times a sense that peace is out of reach. Yet we
can strive to build a
peaceful environment, we can develop an inner
sense of peace. It takes
time and it is often low on our priorities but it
is possible whether it
is in troubled times or not.

Often we find a 'few moments of peace' ....how
often have you heard that
phrase? It would appear that a few moments is
all we are allowed.
Perhaps we have subconsciously subscribed to that
theory. Peace is like
a building block. It must be placed one at a time
to extend and define,
to protect and enclose. We have to have a space,
a 'room', whether it
be an inner room or an outer one, we need to
create a space for the
development of peace. It doesn't just happen, it
always takes time and
thought, an approach, a sense of something that
you want to obtain.

Peace can extend beyond the boundary of the
individual. This is most
important when times are in need of peace. A
calming influence, an
individual sense of peace is something that can
be shared with others.
It is not a conscious act, but simply a sharing
of being, a sharing of a
composed attitude, a healing. It is wise to
check and be aware of your
own sense of what you are projecting, what you
are being when times are
troubled. Is it worry, unease, fear? Whenever
you see that you are
projecting a negative feeling, take time to
correct it. Find some time
for yourself. It is important for your health
and for your relationship
with others. Be the carrier of peace, be the
soothing voice, the calm
state that can be felt. Heal others by being a
center for peace. Heal
yourself.
