Upon a hillside there were shepherds and sheep. The news they received was miraculous to hear. Imagine their shock and awe. Yet, on earth, there are many instances of shepherds and their sheep, the flock they take care of, whether animal or human. In all of us, there is the capacity to be a shepherd. Perhaps it is just one sheep that we are responsible for or care for, or perhaps there are many. It is important to see ourselves in different roles, not always in earthly categories, or defined by an occupation or any other categories used to group people. Think of yourself as a shepherd. Think of someone or something that needs a shepherd, even if it is only for temporary care. Be a shepherd to someone.
