If the Christian way were true, if people got just one chance to succeed or fail, most of us would fail. We cannot begin to reach perfection, so Christians believe that a gracious, all-knowing god grants them salvation if they simply ask. Many Pagans I've known began this life as Christians (not all, but some). They simply could not resolve all of the questions. Questions like "What about babies who die at birth?" They have neither earned heaven nor hell. Are the children automatically saved? Does an all-knowing god allow terrible injustices to occur, sending some babies to terrible poverty, hunger and mistreatment, while sending other babies to wealth, overabundance and overendulgence? Would it not be easier for the latter child to find his or her way into God's grace at the end of this life?If one subscribes to the theory of reincarnation, then it becomes much easier to resolve such questions.

If you have ever wondered about life after death or exactly what goes on when we finish here. If you've ever been very ill and feared what might happen to you if you died, then perhaps you should look into the matter. With magicke, there are ways of traveling. Actually, astral projection cannot be considered magicke in the strictest sense. By way of much practice you can master the art of causing your astral body to leave the physical one. Don't worry~~your astral body can never get lost or separated from the physical you. The two entities are inextricably connected by a silver cord as long as the physical body remains alive. Consciously leaving your body is an exhilerating experience. Have you ever dreamt of flying free of the bonds of gravity? With astral travel it is possible. I found this to be enlightening and very comforting. For me, it proved beyond a doubt that there is truly something outside of this material world(many subsequent paranormal experiences followed~~I mention this one because it was my first). This Way to the Magicke!
Angelology Angelolgy is a Hebraic term connoting the study and mythology of angels. Most people in the US think of angels as being a strictly Christian phenomenon. This, however, is not truly the case. Angels come from Hebrew mythology. They were neither seen nor heard from until the Old Testament of the Bible and they shared their angelic wisdom only (or mainly)with Jews. Their existence has come to be taken for granted along the same lines as Santa and the tooth fairy with the exception that many adults also hold a very personal belief in "angels." I wonder how many of the Christians we know who fervently believe in and hold dear their experience with angels would still do so if they understood that the Jews hold the patent on Angelology? Perhaps I am wrong. Perhaps it would make no difference whatsoever. And yet, it seems only fair that credit should be given where credit is due. If I am right and this does somehow throw cold water on the Christian conception of angels or personal visions of how prayers are delivered up to God, then maybe a good rethinking is in order.
Pagans, on the other hand, have never had such a problem. Our beliefs are pretty varied but still all-encompassing. One Witch I know told me, "Witches believe in pretty much everything unless it can be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that it cannot possibly be true." This sounds quite gullible and naive, I know, but really it is not. We simply do not dismiss the unusual, out of hand, without any investigation at all. We do not believe in myths which hold their origin in the Christian theological tome(the Bible). We do not believe in Satan as THE harbinger of evil and the eternal adversary of the paternalistic, all-seeing god. We believe in a pantheon of demons very much like the pantheon of gods and goddesses to whom we pray, chant and worship(except that demons are usually evil instead of intrinsically good in nature). Some Witches ask demons for favors. It is not a good idea to resort to this type of ritual if it can be helped. Very often demons get cranky when humans ask them to run errands, and their habit is to exact retribution in especially unattractive ways. Since they don't much like us, it stands to reason that we should probably leave them alone.
Angels are a different sort of character. They are seen (for the most part) as being very benign and pleasing. Even though they could destroy the Earth, they mostly don't seem to be inclined in that direction, so people tend to ask for their help. My husband and I mostly do not. We do not pretend to speak for the entire Pagan community, but I believe we are safe in saying that the entities we mostly want to harken to here are "Spirit Guides." Spirit Guides are the shades of those who have died and chosen to help others, either as a sort of penance or because they enjoy doing so. Humankind is undergoing a change at present on a genetic level. We are finally evolving and many of us want to hold out a helping hand to others who are less fortunate. After physical death occurs, the urge to help remains strong, so these beings become spirit guides. Many of us have spirit guides and are unaware of it until a time of particular stress or trevail. At these stressfull times we draw on all of our inner strength and when that is used up, we turn to the strength we sense just outside ourselves--our Spirit Guides. These spirits are just waiting for a chance to help us. That is their main task. That is the reason they wait around our living auras, so that they may be of assistance to help us to learn and benefit from this life experience. So, the next time you feel like reaching out to an angel, try calling out additionally to your very own "Spirit Guide."

Magicke
The term "magick" has been bandied about quite loosely. It reaches from illusions performed onstage by "magicians," to the shuffling of tarot cards, to party shennanigans with a Ouija board purchased at Toys'r'Us. One thing I would say about this is that I believe "magic" has been misjudged. Sorcerors have been practicing ceremonial magick as a science thousands of years. There are many things in nature that we do not understand. Until recently, these things were called "magick." Most people on Earth at this time never give a thought to the difference in the magicks of that guy on tv who made an elephant disappear and the magicke of King Soloman. I believe that one day we will find that magicke is a science. There are rules that govern it even as we practice it now. I think that eventually we will find that a scientific priniciple is at work here. Formulae are followed. Astrological calendars are adhered to. Certain types of magicke are performed on certain days to increase chances of success. When you have all the ingredients of a spell, and it is performed at the correct time, with a link of some sort to the subject, most of the time the spell works. We don't understand why yet, but then we don't understand what keeps a bumblebee aloft either--still, he can fly.
