Spiritual Growth Page

"Our life offers us unlimited opportunities for spiritual growth until the end."
-M. Scott Peck

I believe every human being has a spirit, or soul. Many events of our life are excellent opportunities for learning, as if cleverly designed by a higher power to stimulate our spiritual growth. Few people realize it, but every day we have a choice to grow or not to grow. Those who decide to spiritually grow at every opportunity know it can be a challenging but rewarding path.

We are called to grow spiritually and encourage the spiritual growth of others. The higher power I mentioned is a spirit within, between, and among us. People have named the spirit God. I believe He/She is a mysterious and loving presence interested in our daily lives and spiritual growth, and desires to be a close companion. Those who continually reach out to God typically live joyous, fun, relaxing, loving, exciting, peaceful, and challenging lives.

Throughout history, people have traveled many paths to God and a spiritually healthy lifestyle. The path I am most familiar with is named Christianity, but I believe if someone is on a path of a different name, or on a path so untraditional it doesn't have a name, it does not mean they are lost or condemned to failure. A wise person named Basho once said, "Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the wise. Seek what they sought." Different people find different paths to discover the same God.

One of the many ways to grow spiritually is reading books written by wise people who have shared what they have learned about their "higher power". My favorite author, M. Scott Peck, has written several good books. I like him so much I have created a page in his honor.
