"I Like Calling North Carolina My Home"
Poems Created by 4th Graders

North Carolina is my home.
It's nothing like Rome!

I love the view.
It doesn't make me spew.

The food is great.
They ain't nothing I ain't ate!

The people are nice,
And they worship Christ.

There are lots of farms.
With the people who work on them with their hands and arms.

There are lots of deer.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere but here.

North Carolina is my home,
That I roam.

There are few steer,
But we got lots of deer.

I go to the beach,
Where there ain't no leach.

There's a lot of trees,
With tons of bees.

Most of the frogs,
Live in bogs.

Most of the views
Won't make you want to spew.

For visiting a day,
But instead I'm going to bed!

I call North Carolina home
Because it might be better than Rome.

I think it's prettier than a gold dome
With the great big mountains,
And the sandy Coastal Plains.
All the cities grew because of the steam trains!

I like calling home because of the fresh air
And the birds chirping in my hair!

Race cars pacing the track,
Passing and wrecking along the track.

Mountains and the Great Smokey Ridge.
That's why I like calling North Carolina my home!

I like calling North Carolina home.
I can play baseball in the fall!
I hit the ball to the fence;
The ump calls foul ball!

North Carolina is very big,
It's home to many pigs.
Some of the ladies wear wigs!

The beach
Is not the home for a leach.
North Carolina teachers sure can teach!

The State Fair
Is as big as a giant bear,
Not a little ole hair.

Several deer
Live here.
But they are not to fear!

That is why I call North Carolina home!

The backyard is big,
The tall trees are tall.
Country cooking is the best of them all.
Some churches are big,
Some churches are small.
I love the rivers and the waterfalls.
Dogwood is white,
The whitest of them all!
Having dinner on the ground,
Doesn't give me a big ole frown!
Farming is fun but it's hard like the ground.
Everytime I go in for dinner,
You can always smell the dinner that NEVER makes you thinner!
That's all I have to say today,
See you soon on Christmas Day!
