Emotion is a catylst for changing the soul. The deeper we feel - the
greater the change that can be effected. Whether we change
for better or worse depends on our attitude toward the emotion we feel.
Christ felt the extremes of all emotions(righteous anger in
driving the money changers from the temple, weeping in sorrow at the
death of Lazarus, weeping for joy when praying for the
Nephites and because of their faith, agony for the sins of the world
in Gethsemane, and the extreme feeling of loneliness when the
Father withdrew His Spirit while on the cross) are just a few examples.
Yet Christ certainly did not allow the positive emotions He
felt to lead to pride, nor the painful emotions to lead to anger, depression,
or loss of faith.
We can become more like Christ by praying for the ability to feel greater
emotion - and by maintaining a positive and thankful
attitude for the emotion that we do feel.

We're all on a trip; we've all got some baggage. Some people check it
under the plane, some carry it on. I prefer to check mine, but
it seems like I always end up with stuff that I didn't need - that
just gets in the way. Do we have extra baggage we can check?
