Challen hit his first hole-in-one on Monday, October 20, 1997, at the Twin Oaks Golf Course in Jamestown, North Carolina. He hit his hole-in-one during the Universal Furniture Industries Semi-Annual Company Golf Tournament on the Par 3, 70 Yards, No. 12 Hole. Witnessing Challen's hole-in-one were Claude Bell, Ralph Beightol, Larry Milan, and Gene Surman. (The Crowd Roars!)
