**Manufacturing
Operations Exercise**
Manufacturing can sometimes be a complicated process!
If you break
down each product into the operations it took to make it, it's a little
easier to understand. Many operations make-up the manufacturing
process, here are a few of the more common ones:
LAYOUT AND MEASURMENT__________________________________
CUTTING__________________________________
TURNING__________________________________
PLANING__________________________________
MILLING__________________________________
DRILLING__________________________________
SHAPING__________________________________
FORMING__________________________________
LAMINATING__________________________________
MOLDING__________________________________
FASTENING__________________________________
WELDING__________________________________
SOLDERING__________________________________
COATING AND FINSHING__________________________________
Your activity will be
for you and a partner to go and find parts on a car
that were made with each of the preceding operations. You may want to
have your teacher review each of the operations so that you know what
you're looking for. It does'nt necessarily need to be a car, other products
might be an appliance, lawn mower, power tool, school bus etc.
