**Rube Goldberg Machine**

A Rube Goldberg machine is made to accomplish a very simple task in as many
steps as possible. You might have played the game called "MouseTrap", where
you trip the first mechanism and that leads to a series of events until the cage
falls on the mouse.

RUBE GOLDBERG MACHINES

RUBE GOLDBERG MACHINE CONTEST

Your project will be to build a machine (Balloon Popper) that
you can pop a balloon in 8 steps or more. Here are some steps
you might want to incorporate into your design:

ball rolls down a ramp
trip a mousetrap
dominos fall
teter-toter device
basket on a pulley
use match box cars
swings
marbles go thru tubes
hydraulic syringes
lego devices
turn on a small motor
razor or scissors cut a string
burning candle
wheel and axel devices
live mice
floating devices
fan blows a sail boat
turn on a vaccum cleaner
pop balloon with marbles inside of it

As an added extra design parameter your teacher might want you
to include the 6 simple machines into your design.

Suggestion for teacher: A good material to use is old drop ceiling tile.
Many schools have drop ceilings and replace the damaged tiles during
the summer. Ask your maintainence supervisor to save them for you.
They can be cut with a utility knife and the pieces can be hot glued
together.
