Originally from Virginia, Capt. Robert Paslay fought in
the Revolution for Francis Marion. He moved to Laurens County ca
1785 from Cheraw District where he had been on the Vestry and Overseer
of the Poor at St. David's Church. Capt. Robert was married at least
twice - first to Sara Anderson or Cox and then to Elizabeth Crocker.
He built a plantation house near Mountville on North Creek and raised 17
children:

Robert m. Elizabeth Crocker, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Crocker
ca 1790. James had served in the Revolution at the same time as Robert.
Elizabeth was b. November 19, 1774.
Robert d. March 2, 1818 and is buried in a burial ground at the old
Paslay homeplace. His birthdate is March 2, 1746.
Elizabeth m. William Byrd in later years, and died January 5, 1845.
She is buried by Robert at the homeplace.
