1861:  Robert Bolt enlisted in Confederate Army as private in Co. D, 1(Orr's)
South Carolina Rifles on July 22, 1861 at Camp Pickens, Sandy Springs, SC by
Lt. B. Sloan, CSA for a period of 3 years or the war.
Discharged on August 19, 1861 on discharge papers as below:

             CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA

I certify that the within named Robert Bolt a Private of Captain F. E.
Harrison's , Company D Orr's Regiment of Rifles was born in Laurence District
in the State of South Carolina aged fifty-two years, 5 feet, 10 iinches high,
dark complexion, blue eyes, black hair, and by occupation a farmer was enlisted
by Lieut. B. Sloan CSA at Camp Pickens on the 20th day of July 1861 to serve
three years and is now entitled to discharge by reason of ordinary disability.

The said Robert Bolt has pay due from this enlistment to present date.

There is due him xxx dollars traveling allowance from xxx the place of
discharge to xxx the place of enrollment, transportation not being furnished in
kind.

There is due hime one month wages.

He is indebted to the Confederate States xxx dollars on account of ------.

Given in duplicate at Camp Pickens this 19th day of August 1861.

1862:  Robert Bolt enlisted January 4, 1862 at Columbia, SC for three years or
the war as a private in Co. G, 22 Reg't South Carolina Volunteers.  Enlisted by
Capt. Watkins.  By August 1864 was in Co. B, 22 Reg't. S. C. Volunteers.
Reported admitted to CSA General Hospital, No. 11, Charlotte, NC, on August 17,
1864 with diarrhea.  Died August 20, 1864.

An article in the "Charlotte Observer" in April or May, 1996, reported removal
of about 100 CSA soldiers who had been buried beside the CSA Hospital.  About
1870 these men were reburied in Elmwood Cemetery's Confederate section, in
Charlotte, NC.  On Confederate Veteran's Memorial Day, 1996, a ceremony was
held for these soldiers.  The Sons of Confederate Veterans has placed new
tombstones on these graves.
