1 c. Butter 1/4 c. Shortening 2 c. Sugar 5 Egg Yolks 2 c. Flour
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 c. Nuts, Chopped 1 1/4 c. Coconut 5 Egg Whites, Beaten 1 c. Buttermilk
1 tsp. Soda
Mix butter and shortening. Cream sugar into shortening mixture; add egg yolks, one at a time, beating after
each one. Sift flour and soda together and add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Add nuts, coconut and
vanilla. Fold in beaten egg whites. Pour in three caake pans, greased and floured. Bake at 325 degrees until golden brown
and pulled away from the pan.
Cream Cheese Frosting:
1 Stick Butter 1 tsp. vanilla
8 oz. Cream Cheese 1 lb. Box Powdered Sugar
Cream cheese and butter. Add sugar, a little at a time. Add vanilla and mix until smooth. Spread
between layers of cake and on top and sides. After cake cools.
