This page was originally done in 1997 and has been dated but I am leaving it up for a while until I get time to make changes. Samples and free help for Geocities and Link Exchange Banners on Personal Home Pages. Other requests must be through e-mail to IVIS We can do any graphics for web pages, just ask. ATTENTION: New guidelines for GEOCITIES BANNERS will be out shortly, 234X60, be prepared for changes.

Sample Geocities Banner: 465x60 pixels JPG using Paint Program.
NEW SIZE TO BE REQUIRED, 234 X 60, stay tuned.
Sample Link Exchange Banner: 400X40 pixels text added with paint program.

Try this:
1. Lift the a banner on this page with Netscape, right mouse button, then "save as." Remember where you saved it. Go off line.
2. Use a paint program to change colors, paste pictures, and do art work on it.
3. Add your text. Convert to jpg or gif format, save to your disk. FTP to your page.
4. Be sure to check your dimensions and size. Each banner program has rules.

FAQ's: Answers Only: To save space.


1. No, a GeoRewards Program banner and Link Exchange banner are not the same size. Be sure to correct size of your banner before trying to place it in the program.
2. No, it is not a good idea to simply re-size your page banner. It may break up or become unreadable. Bitmaps do not resize well.
3. Yes, you need a paint program to do your own. Buy one, shareware download, or retail. Practice with it.(Try 'tucows") We are working on a links page for this type of help.
4. Yes, it is best to make a new banner for each banner program. Do not re-size. Use paint program with smallest possible colors. After saving as gif, review size. Compress size with your paint program by limiting number of colors. Be catchy but truthful.
5. Yes, keep it simple. Let it load fast, say what it represents, do not mislead people. They will not come back to your page.
6. Yes, we do this sort of thing for a living too. We offer free help to personal home pages at Geocities in the banner programs. Not intended for commercial pages. We will do commercial pages, e-mail us.
