Mardi Gras Ball Queen, Empress Xana, Leads Mardi Gras Ball

The climatic moment of the Tableaux has arrived, the curtains open revealing a glorious snow and ice covered stage setting with Empress Xana standing in an ice covered pleasure dome with the spotlights blazing upon her glittering velvet robe bearing the Imperial Crest of the Realm.  The music continues as the curtains open wider, ice fog begins to rise and the pleasure dome begins to revolve, rotating until the Empress is facing the arena (you see, this is really theatre in the round as the Mobile Civic Center arena is round and the arena ball room floor is where the entire Tableau is performed prior to climatic opening of the stage to reveal the Empress and other very important persons of the evening) for presentation to the escort of her choice to lead the ball.  The band plays "Somewhere Out There" as Empress Xana and her escort descend from the pleasure dome to promenade once around the ballroom greeting guests and members. In accordance with protocol they continue the promanade until they are positioned at the center front entrace of the ballroom floor standing before guests in the reserved seating boxes, thus officially opening the members Grand March. Upon completion of the Grand March the leaders promenade to the center of the ball room where the leader's escort unwraps and reveals the escorts' favor commerating the ball. The Empress's robes are removed and she and her escort lead the two reserved member dances, at the conclusion of which it is double-rush throughout the evening until the bell tolls at 1:00 a.m. when the Empress leads the snake dance concluding the ball.
