Favorite NRBQ inspired memory:: The very first time I met the Q, I was 19 and unable to get into the show at Pearl Street in Northampton, MA. I was working as a waitress at a Ramada Inn in Chicopee and the next morning Terry, Tommy and Joey came in for breakfast! They were the only ones in the entire restaurant and they let me sit with them while they ate. They gave me their autographs and Terry left me a two dollar bill that I still have today(13 years later). The last time we met was last year at he Taste of Westfield when Stacey introduced us. This time was special because it was my son's 8th birthday, and our kids have been fans their entire lives (not that they had a choice). They were thrilled and we hope to go again this year!!! Other musical interests:: Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, Tom Petty, Bonnie Raitt, Natalie Merchant, Robert Cray | Comments: We need to see more of them in MA! I'm afraid I only have 1 of their albums, Message For the Mess Age, and I'm sure it's not their best, although it's ok. They are apparently soulmates with another band from he late '60s that is still together, although part-time, a couple of times a year - The Outerspace Band. I've heard NRBQ mentioned by one of the Space men. If you ever get the chance, check them out. They usually do the coast of Maine in mid-July. paul stefano - 01/04/98 05:39:08 My URL:http://www.intldist.com My Email:paulstef@ctconnect.com Favorite NRBQ song:: magnet Favorite NRBQ disc:: yankee stadium Other musical interests:: ben folds,dylan,jimmie dale gilmore,t-bone burnett,bix biederbecke,the dead,fats waller,the band,marshall crenshaw | Comments: veteran of many toad's shows..was there the night keith richards was supposed to show up...best memory : my friend roger and i go down to a bar at the university of bridgeport (back then an area as stable as the mideast) to see the boys...the place is des rted and the opening act consisted of and i kid you not, 4 lawyers and a bass player (the bugsy brutal band they were called....and they were brutal)...the place maybe has 50 people in it including bar staff...the q comes out looking quite perplexed, like "where the hell is everybody ?"..i pe sonally thought they were going to pack it in and i believe terry was considering pulling the plug...some girl yells out "hey terry, no-one but die hards and friends here tonight"...he looks at her says "you're right...hit it al"...one of the best i've se n... god bless 'em by the way, they are possibly going back to the town crier cafe at pawling new york....small dinner club, very initmate, saw them there back in november or december... |
