Old Dead Saabs

Carlisle Massachusetts is a town one over from the one I live in and I drive through it every day when coming home from work. Just after passing over the Concord River from Bedford into Carlisle, there is a dirt/gravel parking lot on the right which is for conservation land. Having passed by there nearly everyday for almost a year, I though I would finally get out, take a walk and see what it was like.

Well imagine my suprise when I end up over by a house set way back in the woods and I find 3 very old Saabs sitting, rotting away in the woods. Sad! So while these cars may never be driven again, I came back a couple days later with my digital camera to get a few shots of them so at least they can still be seen, even if it isn't on the highway.

7/13/98 UPDATE: I was recently contacted by Jonathan Dennis who wanted to look at these cars, so we met and took a trip over. All three cars are older two-stroke engine models but only one of the model 96s actually had a motor in it (pictured below).

More info on what Jon drives can be found after the first set up photos.

Jon (mentioned at the top of this page) drives a model 95 wagon which I thought was rather cool! And he is currently working on getting another 95 which is in great shape on the road. See below for pictures of his current model 95 daily driver.

4/28/99 UPDATE: Well Jon stopped by. The 95 wagon pictured below is no longer on the road. He plans on getting his other 95 wagon on the road this summer. In the meantime, he is now driving a 1976 99EMS. See below for pictures of the 99.

Here are the photos of Jon's running 1968 95 with 1971 V4 engine... (click on thumbnails for full-sized version)
