Calls for Judicial Inquiry into the Ontario Human Rights Commission

by Hakim Abassi

Greetings and thanks to New Democtats of good will who endeavour towards an Ontario -a Canada- where all are equal.

We also remember the days when we were in power but chose a quasi-apartheid course of dealing with public issues: Thus, while the ONDP reneged on its pledge to investigate the Ontario Human Rights Commission and let it keep full reign of abusing, deceiving, discriminating against and further victimizing (non white) complainants, it replied swiftly with appointments of judicial inquiries to about any white Ontarian who alleged wrongs, abuse of human rights in the hands of public officials and institutions.

The hordes of whites who were well served by the ONDP had their issues duly and swiftly dealt with, from the alleged victims of abuse at Christian Reform Schools to alleged victims of judges' sexism and "loose fingers", to alleged victims of Carlton Master etc... They were all well served by their white brethrens of the ONDP. The non-whites (riff-raff as far as the ONDP is concerned) are left to dry, screaming in the wilderness. [see, for example, International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination: Racial Minorities, particularly Blacks, in Ontario Have nothing to Cheer about or Celebrate and Ontario Human Rights Commission permits Racial Harassment and Discrimination to pervade Workplace in Ontario by Permitting it to Continue unabated.

I CHALLENGE anyone at the ONDP to respond to my claim that the NDP government had pursued an apartheid-like administration of human rights justice. I CHALLENGE anyone at the ONDP to debate the issue with me publicly.

The very ONDP government that appointed judicial inquiries to probe the conduct of members of the judiciary replied to my calls for a probe into the Ontario Human Rights Commission with "the commission is an independent agency and the government cannot intervene". Insulting my intelligence ? I almost forgot, I am not white and therefore I cannot lay claim to any degree of intelligence.

I urge the ONDP to demand a judicial inquiry into the Ontario Human Rights Commission (with a view to compensate victims of its deliberate wrongs and abuses) with the same vigor the ONDP displayed when advocating and delivering justice for whites.
