Israel's Media Watch protested the decision Thursday (June 4) of the Israel Broadcasting Authority's executive committee to raise the television & radio license fee by some 15%.
"The IBA must first put its financial affairs in order before putting its hands deep into the public's pockets. Israel's Media Watch has long insisted that the IBA is overstaffed and lacks proper accounting responsibility. And if, as is the claim, that the government has reneged on the transfer of fee subsidies for pensioners, the way is open to petition the courts instead of punishing the public."
IMW further announced that they will campaign against the rise in the Knesset's Finance Committee where it must be approved and will take legal steps, if necessary.
Another action planned is a call to license fee payers to cancel
their pre-arranged bank remittances for the additional sum.
