Twenty-six years after the inception of the "Humanitarian Award," the Award Deliberation Committee
and Lions International Unanimously agreed to present the 1998/1999 award to
His Majesty the King of Thailand. Forty-five personages, from eighteen countries,
were nominated for the award, which is a nine-inch crystal lion plus cash amounting to two hundred thousand dollars.
The presenttation of the "Humanitarian Award" to His Majesty took place on March 3, 1999, at Dusidalai Hall,
Chitralada Pavilion attended by Cptain Kachit Hapnanont,
President of Lions International Administration Committee, their spouses and Members of the Council of Governors of Joint
Lions International Region 310 (Thailand) were among the audience.

Humanitarian Award เป็นรางวัลสูงสุดของสโมสรไลออนส์
สากลที่มอบให้แก่บุคคลผู้ซึ่งทำประโยชน์ให้กับผู้อื่นและส่วนรวมทั้ง
ในด้านการศึกษา สาธารณสุข การยกระดับความเป็นอยู่ และคุณภาพ
ชีวิตของมนุษยชาติ
ในปี พุทธศักราช 2541-2542 ซึ่งนับเป็นปีที่ 26 ของรางวัลนี้
มีผู้ได้รับการเสนอชื่อเข้ารับการพิจารณาทั้งสิ้น 45 ชื่อ จาก 16
ประเทศ คณะกรรมการทำการพิจารณา และสมาคมสโมสรไลออนส์
สากลมีมติเป็นอกฉันท์ ทูลเกล้าทูลกระหม่อมถวายรางวัลไลออนส์
สากล "Humanitarian Award" แด่พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว
รางวัลคือ แก้วเจียระไนรูปสิงห์โต ขนาด 9 นิ้ว และเงินสด 200,000
เหรียญ
