DISSERTATION

 

"'I Have Set My Affair On Nothing': Literary Theory, Fiction, and the Politics of Antirepresentation." The dissertation demonstrates how both postmodern literary theory and contemporary American fiction engage in an "antirepresentational" politics, and argues for a reevaluation of the meaning of radical critiques of representation in novels by Paul Auster, Jane Smiley, and Tim O'Brien.
