James PARMER (b. 1810 SC) married Mary CREEL (b. 1812) in Alabama in 1833. They moved their family to Wood Co. @ 1852 from Alabama (although they did stop in Mississippi for at least a year found on the 1850 census for Leake Co. MS). In 1860, they were on the Smith Co. TX census Their children that accompanied them to Texas we believe to be:

(1) Nancy PARMER (b. 1836 AL) married James W. SIMMONS in Smith Co. TX in 1854.
(2) Francis Marion PARMER (b. 1841 AL) died in Civil War, serving in the 7th Texas Infantry, Co. F from East Texas.
(3) George Washington PARMER (b. 1843 AL, d. 12/19/1861) also died in Civil War, serving in same unit as his brother.
(4) William James PARMER (b. 1845 AL, d. 1897 Wood Co. TX) married Amelia Lucindy CARROLL (b. 1858 TX, d. 1916 Wood, TX) in 1874 in Wood Co. TX. They had 7 children, including my husband's gr-grandmother, Nora Lee PARMER (b. 1889 Mineola, Wood, TX, d. 1977 Borger, Hutchison, TX). Nora married 2x (1) Roscoe N. CATE (b. 1884 TN, d. 1913 Wood, TX) (2) H.V. GREER, Sr. (b. 1889).

I do have additional info about Nora's generation. Any info that you can add would be appreciated

Russell Porter Palmer, born 5 Sept 1818, Green county, GA. Married Morning Dove Mansell. His father Benjamin Hezekiah Palmer, mother Elizabeth Roberts. You can E-mail me.

Russell Porter Palmer was a Dr. and his tombstone has him with Morning Dizenie Mansell, not Morning Dove. According to my records, William Mansell and Morning Dove Arnet/White were Morning Dizenie's parents. The information on Green County, GA is correctt as he was born beside Richlands Creek. Dr. Benjamin Franklin Palmer was born Abt. 1847 and was also a Dr.
Dr. Russell Porter Palmer lived to be quite old and died in 1908. When I was in AL doing research, I met a distant relative of ours that remembered Dr. Russell Porter Palmer.
Please feel free to write, I have information going back to the 1600's on their ancestors. bobk@rockymountnc.com

I am a decendant of Dr. Russell Porter. He and Morning Dove had a daughter named Emaline who had a daughter named Lydia who is my great-grandmother. My Uncle has a photograph of the Palmer headstone that clearly reads Russell's wifes name as Morning Dove. I am interested in where the Dizenia (sp) came from.

My grandfather was James Alexander Palmer (1889), son of William Russell Palmer (1841), son of Porter Gaines Palmer (1818) of Hamilton, AL where he is buried in the Palmer Cemetery. Benjamin Palmer was the brother of William Russell Palmer, therefore we are connected at that point. My Palmer's have been in Cross County, Arkansas since 1892, but the Palmer's visited one another back and forth for years. Many of the Palmer decendents still live in Hamilton and the surrounding areas. Would like to hear from some of you!

Would you happen to know if there is any connection between James Alexander Palmer and Claude W. Palmer. Did James have any brother? Claude was suppose to have been born in Ark. His son George Wilson Palmer was born Aprl 18, 1912 - not sure of place of birth. Claude was married to a Anna Mae Brown for England (?) 1889 - 1951.Thank you, Sandy

James had two brothers and five sisters. The brothers were Joel Plummer and Hubbard.
Jerry Feltman

gg grandson of Dr. Benjamin F. Palmer

CORRECTION TO ABOVE POSTING: Porter Gaines Palmer should read Russell Porter Palmer

My descendents are from Marion Co, AL. Do not recognize the Palmer you mention, however, time of birth would make him brother to Russell Porter Palmer and son of Benjamin Hezekiah Palmer. Many Palmers still in that area as well as Palmer cemetery with original gravestones.

Benjamin Hezekiah Palmer begat Russell Porter Palmer who begat William Russell Palmer who begat James Alexander Palmer who begat Richard Wilson Palmer who begat Richard Shane Palmer (me!).
