DETROIT FAMILY
In 1921 the Detriot Family was founded by Gaspare Malazzo. Gaspare led the family until he was killed by a faction led by Gaetano Gianolla. Gianolla ruled for fourteen years 1930-1944. Joe Vitale then took over, and was boss till he died in 1964. From 1964-1977 Joe Zerilli sat at the head fo the committee that over saw the activities of the family. He also served as a member of the Commision. Zerilli was believed to be involved in the disappearance of Teamster boss Jimmy Hoffa. Zerilli died on October 30,1977, and was succeeded by Jack Tocco. While boss, Jack Tocco and many members of the family were indicted on racketeering, extortion, and conspiracy charges. It is uncertain of who the new boss, who the acting boss, or even if there is a boss for the family.
