LOS ANGELES FAMILY

In Los Angeles during the prohibition era arouse Jack Dragna. Dragna formed a family that bore his name. After prohibition ended Dragna involved his hamily in the entertainment industry. But as the whole history of this famiy goes, they were never able to control southern California. After Chicago sent soldiers to take control of Hollywood, the Dragna family could only watch, too weak to start a war. Dragna died in 1957. being the only Los Angeles boss to sit on the Commission. For the next eleven years Frank DiSimone was in power. DiSimone was a wimp of a boss worried about being assassinated by Joe Bonanno. He died in 1968 of natural causes and Nicholas Licata took over. Licata wanted to expand the family's rackets, but the families from the east moved in and took almost all of them. Licata died in 1974. Taking over after Licata died, Dominick Brooklier really saved the family and got it back on track. While Brooklier was seving time in prison during his reigin, Aladena Frattiano began stating that he was boss of the family. When Brooklier was released from prison, he put out a contract on Frattiano. Frattiano, at that time, became only the second man to break the vow of omerta. As he went into the witness protection program. He also put waya Brooklier in 1974 for racketeering, conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and murder. Peter John Milano took over after Brooklier went to prison. He controlled drug trafficking, extortion, bookmaking, and loansharking. Milano, with his brother Carmen, anre supposedly trying to get into the Las Vegas scene. They wre suspects in the murder of Herbie Blitztein in 1997.
