TRAFFICANTE-TAMPA FAMILY
It is unknown exactly when the family was started, but the man who began it was Ignacio Antinori. He died in 1940. James
LuMia then ruled for ten years, before being gunned down in his car in 1950. LuMia was into politics, gambling, and was an oil
company executive. The FBI first noticed an organized crime presence in Florida while LuMia was boss. For the next four
years Santos Trafficante, Sr. was boss. Santos, Sr. organized gambling among other rackets. He made connections with Cuban
president, Batista and started casinos in Cuba. He died in August of 1954. His son , Santos Trifficante, Jr. then took over
operations. When Fidel Castro came to power in Cuba Santos, Jr. was held for death, but was later released due to his lawyer
and friend Frank Ragano, who would also be Jimmy Hoffa's attorney. He was present at the Apalachin meeting. he was
involved in the plots to assissnate Castro and in the J.F.K. shooting. Santos Trafficante, Jr. died in 1987. Vicent LoScalzo then
became boss, and still is. He has political and civic connections in and around the Tampa area.
