Note that wet weather does not fit in exactly with the above list but it also requires special care because wheels don't grip the road as well in the wet thus increasing braking distance. Further, when it first starts raining it brings out all the greasy dirt and can make cornering unusually risky.
Therefore in wet weather it is vital that you allow at least a 3 second braking distance (the longer the better within reason), slow down, and take corners very carefully.
