Son of Gervase and an unknown woman. Married Hawise de Eschauffen and had son Hugh. Was of Breton origin, and killed in battle by Roger de Beaumont. (3) Hugh de Grentmesnil, born 1032 in Hinkly, England. Died February 22nd, 1098. Son of Robert and Hawise. Married Alice de Beaumont and had daughter Agnes. Hugh was exiled by Duke William of Normandy from 1058-1061; he was restored in 1066. Hugh held lordships in Ashby Ledgers, Northants; Hinckley and Groby, in Leicester; and the castle of Neufmarche; as well as being Sheriff of Leicester. For more information, please visit this link.
