Blue Bazaar 99
The annual "NPCC Blue Bazaar'99" was held on 11th February outside LT9 and on 12th February outside the MicroComputer Lab, both at the Art's Faculty. Our main purpose of having this Blue Bazaar has always been hoping to be able to create an awareness of NPCC as a non-constituent club in NUS and to be able to raise funds for our unit.As we all know that Valentine's Day was just round the corner, most of the items displayed were germaned for the festive of love. These items constituted of love candles, soft toys, and not to forget our hand-made and cocoon flowers. Our specialties for both days were grabbed as soon as they were out of the "HOT OVEN" and were soon out of stock and they were none other than our "BEANIES". It came with lots of varieties like bears, elephants, dolphins, rabbits, dogs, donkeys and lots more!
Our items on sale ranges from anything from your face all the way down to your feet. We have hair-clips and hair-bands for your hair, earrings for your ears, necklaces, chokers and baby pearls for your neck, "Quick Silver", "Bilabong" and "No Fear" T-shirts selling at the cheapest prices you could ever imagined. Only $12 for one and $20 for two. We have all kinds of bracelets, wallets, pencil cases, key pouches, sling bags and more! All the way down to made-to-order bags and sandals. UNBELIEVABLE!
For the two days, our total gross earning amounted up to a total of approximately S$2400.00. Without a doubt, the Blue Bazaar was a great success that exceeded our prior speculations. Our profit totaled up to about S$400.00 for the two days which well-exceeded last year's average of S$100.00 per day. All these do not come to us like magic. These are the results of many days and nights of scouting.
Scouting for what? We scouted for stores, which are willing to let us have the items on consignment basis, and contacting the retailers for the goods, all the way to collecting the goods from them, to finding a place to store them in campus. In addition, we moved the goods from our house to campus and from the storage place to the Bazaar. We spent sleepless nights of labelling the goods and preparing the item list as well as the posters.
All these would not be possible if not for the hard work put in, in any way, by all the devoted members of the Project Sub-committee as well as the warm helping hands of our Executive Officer, Administrative Officer, Finance Officer and Sub-committee heads in drawing the manpower for the event, not forgetting the support of our friends from NTU-NPCC who came down to give us a helping hand.
All these demonstrate the unity of NUS-NPCC members as a team of leaders who are able to contribute to the unit with a sense of unstinting dedication and a team whereby we care for one another unselfishly and unconditionally.
