COMPUTER LAB

Computer Lab I
The purpose of this class is three-fold: to introduce basic computer skills using Macintosh computers and connected hardware; to develop typing skills; to increase vocabulary through a variety of computer games in English. Some word processing skills are taught when students' typing ability is adequate. Students are also introduced to use of the Internet, in particular, the use of e-mail and search engines.

Computer Lab II
Students develop word-processing skills, particularly formatting a paper and using the spelling checker and the thesaurus. A typing speed of 40 words per minute is encouraged. They are introduced to sophisticated uses of the Internet including e-mail protocol and savvy searches. Those interested are introduced to Hypercard.

Computer Lab III
Simple graphics are taught plus use of a scanner and digital camera. Students learn complex use of word processing, including page layout and insertion of graphics. They have the opportunity to create their own homepage on the Internet using HTML.
