On the Wings of Love: Yu Yu Hakusho Fanfictions --by Keiko no Miko--

Little Snippets of Manille's Little World: April 4, 2000.

I was reading "More than Friends" just a while ago. (It's an eleven-chapter fanfic written when I was fourteen.) I shook my head at occasional flaws that I thought were right when first got into the YYH fandom, for example, I thought "youko" refers to any Makai entity and "youkai" is its plural form (that site which offers some translations got a few things wrong), and worse, I thought Keiko's mom is dead (*sweatdrops* big mistake...gomen Yukimura-san ^_^;) But put those things aside, I liked what I read. I was muttering to myself, "Hey, this is good...I didn't know!" I even wondered from where in this trashed skull of mine did I get some of the passages. I was going, "Man, I wrote this???"

So what's the point? Well, I think that I still am a frustrated writer, but...well, celebrate life. WRITE! WRITE ANYTHING!!! After some time, when you read it, you'll be surprised at your talent. Yeah, yeah, yeah! GO FOR YOUR DREAMS!!!

Just like I said in the main page, my fics are all NON-YAOI and NON-LEMON. I strongly disagree to the possibility of a male-to-male relationship because, aside from being strange, it's immoral. I hope you understand my grounds on this. Also, some of my fics contain crude language and violence that isn't acceptable to many readers.

And another thing. I didn't really know (okee, I admit it now) much about the real side of Yu Yu Hakusho and its characters because, as you all know, I live in the Philippines and I watch the Filipino version. That is not to say that the dubbers did nothing but crap -- in fact, I'd like to thank them for bringing the animé viewers YYH -- but I didn't know the difference between "ja ne" and "sayonara" until I got hooked. And you know what I mean about being deprived of the "real" world of YYH.

Orphans
A trip to an orphanage turns out to be much more than what Yusuke and Keiko expected. Two kids, who are apparently too smart for their age, show them the real meaning of life, of friendship, and of love. Seven chapters. It is written in both Keiko and Yusuke's point of view. I got the idea for this fic when my classmates and I visited an orphanage to comply with our school's outreach requirement, and believe me, I was touched by what I had seen.

Until the Time is Through
A songfic based on the song by Five. (Get on up when you're down...na-na-na...) Yusuke bids farewell to Keiko, but can he swallow his pride and tell her how he really feels? It's a reenactment of the episode when Yusuke leaves for the Makai.

Love Must Wait
Yusuke always leaves Keiko because he has to go away to do his job as a Reikai tantei. How does Keiko feel, then? Here is Keiko's soliloquy one year after Yusuke's departure to the Makai.

When You Say Nothing At All
This is a songfic based on the song by Allison Krauss, revived by Ronan Keating. I was partly inspired after watching "Notting Hill" and listening to "By Request". Narrated by Yusuke as he sits beside Keiko facing the sea.

Where Love Is
Gee, Yusuke needs some lessons in love, doesn't he? Kurama narrates what he thinks of Yusuke and Keiko's relationship. Inspired by "Tell Her that You Love Her", a Chicken Soup for the Couple's Soul story.

The Kiss of True Love
Lighthearted at the beginning, sweet towards the end. Yusuke had said something that sent Keiko throwing kitchen utensils at him again -- when Koenma later comes up to him and tells him of his mission. And in this mission, he has to convince Keiko to forgive him. But she doesn't seem to want to. Oh, yeah, it's a bit Kurama-Botan. *hides*

Drawn to Her
Yusuke converses with himself before proposal. It's actually my short story assignment for English but I changed it into a Yusuke-Keiko fanfic...but hey, my teacher was smiling from ear to ear as he read this! ^_^

Pearls of Sadness
Hiei comes back to Ningenkai from the Makai after a few years' stay there. The first person he goes to is Yukina. Will he be there to tell her finally that he is her long-lost brother? Will he and Kuwabara be on time to save her from a peril that Yukina landed on -- and that Hiei had started in the first place? Five chapters and terribly angsty.

Cherry Blossoms
This is the first fan fiction I've ever written, so forgive me for the MANY errors there. *Disintegrates* Yusuke has to deal with a tragedy that came too suddenly. But, as always, Keiko makes him understand that loving is also letting go.

To Find Once Again
Three years after Koenma's wedding, he visits Yusuke and Keiko, who had settled down themselves. Little did he know that a shocking discovery awaited him there. Ahem-ahem....

When You Opened My Eyes
This is my first Koenma-Botan fanfic, from where I got LOTSA compliments from K&B fans! ^_^ Koenma is the Prince of Reikai whereas Botan is a ferry girl and Koenma's messenger. How do two very different people tell each other that they've found love along the line?

Falling in Love All Over Again
A tribute for happy families. Christmastime is nearing -- and so is the time when Keiko has to leave Yusuke and their child to settle down "matters" concerning their marriage. Then she learns a lesson she'll never ever forget....This is inspired by that symposium in our school regarding divorce, and by a short drama on TV.

If I Never Knew You
I've been raking my brain for months for a fic idea that will go well with this wonderful song, and I finally got it. If I tell you what's it about, you may not read it, so just click on the link and go figure. =P Heh, LOL, fooled yah! "If I never knew you, I'd have lived my whole life through...empty as the sky...never knowing why...lost forever if I never knew you..."

I got an award for this fic from the YYH Fanfiction Bookstore! Like, WOW! @_@ I wanna cry... i_i

Saving You Again
Based on WhiteCat's "Alternate History", this fanfic takes us to a different Yu Yu Hakusho universe, where Yusuke becomes a totally different person from the one we know and love. And in my contribution to this universe, Keiko tries to convince Yusuke to return to his old self again. But the question is, can she?
